Bee Movie  (2007)

i know it's a kids movie, but normally i love kids movies! this film was just terrible, so ridiculous in every way that it stopped being funny and just provoked feelings of hatred towards the creators... the scene that really did it for me was when lots of bees managed to carry a jumbo jet so that it landed safely, then the bees miraculously pollinate all of new york- which is great - but what about the rest of the world?? They tried to mix tongue in cheek adult comedy with children's comedy, and where that has worked in the past (like Shrek), this one completely failed. It had the potential to be quite a good film, but in comparison to films like Shrek and Finding Nemo it doesn't stand a chance

I was looking forward to this film but how i finished watching this film is beyond me. I was very surprised to learn that this is a kids films with U rating even though the humour is quite adultish and there is a brief talk of a suicide pact, hardly kiddie stuff. This film seems typical of the dreamworks company who overly focus on adult scripts because they somehow seem to forget that this is meant to be a kids cartoons with nice bright colours and talking animals. Instead we get clones of shrek and poor copies of bugs life/antz And this is the reason why dreamworks will never be as good as pixar - maybe they should try and copy their equation for friendlier reviews. Not a bad movie but not an A movie either - definitely a B movie. boom boom!

Barry B. Benson, a bee who breaks all the rules of bee society by talking to and befriending Vanessa (a florist appropriately), is appalled to discover the honey industry and takes the human race to court. What would a bee think of bee keeping? OK- there's probably a joke there but a film? Come to that this film got its start when Jerry Seinfeld joked to Steven Spielberg that someone could make a film about bees and call it Bee Movie. No I didn't exactly fall about laughing either but Seinfeld's sitcom was famously a show about nothing so, if anyone can develop a feature from a couple of so-so jokes, he's your man and he does. Just. It's a film that doesn't seem sure who it's aimed at. References to The Graduate and Jewish families (“is she bee-ish?”) will go straight past most kids but the anthropomorphic bees, simple shapes, bright colours and potentially twee premise scream children's film. The style is surely a choice- PDI Dreamworks might not be able to match Pixar for visual splendour but it's clear from the Shrek series that they can detail and prettify well beyond the level shown here. Some of the film's humour derives from the contrast between the toy-like characters and setting and the wise-cracking that goes on in it and there is much to amuse in Bee Movie starting with the initial vandalism committed on Dreamworks emblem (which children certainly will appreciate). Observational humour skewed from a bee's point of view and a stream of funny details (my favourite: a character who considers eating with chopsticks a skill worthy of inclusion on his C.V.) help to keep one distracted from the thin and confused story. Voice work is never less than adequate with Seinfeld setting the breezy pace as Barry though animation (and Seinfeld) veteran Patrick Warburton, so excellent in Family Guy and The Tick, kind of 'phones in the shouty boyfriend. John Goodman is great as the Southern legal shark defending Big Honey and Renée Zellweger, as Vanessa, brings charm and heart and nails the bantering tone crucial to a film that would be horribly flawed if it took itself at all seriously. Spotting who's voicing which supporting character is part of the fun and there are a couple of amusingly self-deprecating cameos. A bizarre mish-mash of styles and a premise that, frankly, isn't developed much beyond that initial joke to Spielberg is held together by a light-hearted attitude and sharp humour. Worth seeing but I'm sure it will suit the small screen just as well if not better.

In our viewing this had the whole audience kids and adults alike rapt, the CGI, the humour the pace are just about spot on. I have seen reviewers call this bland and boring, were they watching the same movie...? After his graduation 'Teen Bee' Barry B Benson finds the thought of a monotonous and glamour free life as a worker bee rather less than he expected, and decides, as adolescents do, to liven things up a bit. He befriends a human flower seller (nice touch) and embarks on a venture to get the honey back humans have stolen. I mean O.K. Hive seen better, but for some great one liners and just plain old family fun, this movie would take quite some beating, and if anyone tells you otherwise they can just buzz off... trust me its excellent and well worth a watch.

Not funny, stupid plot and well maybe ok for kids but not even educational.

this is one of the worst films i have ever seen.

Lots of cheesy bee gags make up this amusing tale written by and starring Jerry Seinfeld. Loads of great cameos especially Chris Rock who gets the best gag of the movie. There's a big moral message near the end, similar to Happy Feet and a fabulously silly end sequence.

Animation good but ending was sloppy.

I have got to agree with 'a customer from Bishop's Stortford'. I too usually enjoy kids films & after a hard week, I was in the right mood for something light & humorous, but this was just painful. It went on too long (half an hour would have been just right) & just got more ridiculous. A few good wise cracks in the first half but Steins voice was grating on me as he became louder & more hysterical as the film went on. 2 stars is generous in my opinion.

Very poor didnt enjoy it. Very disappointing compared to other animated films such as Shrek & Toy Story

Worst animation/CG film I've watched in a while. It didn't live up to expectations, with a poor storyline and disappointing casting( in particular seinfield as the main character)!! On the plus side very good visually. I don't recommend for renting.

I can't believe that this film was actually made - and that the Renee and Ben actually agreed to have a part in it. It is just such a silly waste of time - I only laughed once - even my nephews ( 8 & 10) and my daughter (15) walked off in total boredom.

Suit an American audience more... Bee takes on corpate giant to sue for rights to market honey... Even the bits that aren't that are a bit too US for my kids... Try something else...

Good animation, good fun!

Little Bee who doesn't really want to be a small bee in a large colony, goes out into the world and discovers larger lesson that we all need to work together. At the beginning and in terms of the context, this is Antz with yellow and black stripes. However, it soon becomes incredibly difficult to watch. It is completely predictable and pointless, it made me wish I had just stopped at the trailer. The relationship between the bee and Renee Z's character is odd. Even the character of her boyf, who is voiced by the bloke who does Family Guy and American Dad parts, can't add enough humour to save it. I forced myself to sit and watch this film for the duration, but it was very very very challenging. My advice - watch Antz instead.

I thought this film was quite with the little bees. It's a good idea. Though CGI cartoons do not empress me much this is one of the better ones. There is a grate voyce cast it this. If you are under 13 you will love it.

I love cartoons and animated films, however, Bee Movie is meant for kids. It has the expected jokes but not the usual ones that adults appreciate and the kids laugh at but don't understand. If you are over 12 years then you might just be disappointed.

Controversial i know but i never got Seinfeld! I tried watching something that everyone raved about saying its soooo funny. But it didn't tickle my funny bone. So i was hestitant to rent this film and i should have stuck to my gut instinct! The story is about a Bee who breaks bee ranks and makes friends with a human. Unplusiable wait it gets better. Then he decides to sue humans for selling honey which he believes belongs to the bees. Still not convinced? The bee flies and lands a plane! Yeah exactly. This is either a kids movie with some adult jokes in or an adult film that kids can get. But this film is neither. Its not smart like Shrek or toy story or adult on a kids level like the Simpsons. Its Bee-lah! It just didn't work for me and i found it so boring that i ended up going on the internet through out the remaining film. This bee movies has scored an F and a must try harder comment.

Dreadful Tosh. 3 of us sat watching this before someone finally said 'is it me or is this film really dreadfull?' to which we all then agreed 'Well I didn't like to say anything, but I think its absolute rubbish'. So we all agreed to switch it off... Best decision made all evening!

Dreamworks fails bigtime !! Rent a DIsney Pixar

ok for kids but a bit stupid could of been a better story line

Not the best effort from the Pixar stable. Strikes me as having borrowed a lot of its ideas from Pixars previous,more successful films. Nice film for youngsters to watch but not for us more cynical adults. Basically put Ants and A Bugs Life into a blender and you end up with something approaching Bee Movie.

This film has had some bad reviews with people saying it was stupid and far-fetched. It's a god damn cartoon you freaks, if cartoon bees wanna carry a jumbo jet then they can. Guess what, they can't really talk either. Scientifically they shouldn't be able to fly but they do, in real life too. Get a life you sad, pathetic freaks and go and watch Saw or something. It was a great film for people of all ages and was thoroughly enjoyable. Bee+

Dreamworks always mention on their posters that their latest animation is from 'the makers of Shrek!' Have you ever wondered why they don't mention their other films, such as Antz, Shark Tale, Over the Hedge? Maybe it is because out of all their films, only Shrek is something they are really proud of. With Jerry Seinfeld on board for this film as writer and voice star, the hope was that this would be a standout movie for them - and one which could stand alongside Shrek as a great Dreamworks film. Unfortunately it is safe to say their next animation will also be 'from the makers of Shrek'. It's not that Bee Movie is a bad film - indeed it has some great moments - but with Pixar going from strength to strength, and even Disney's latest Enchanted being a reasonable return to form, this just feels a little watered down and muddled. Seinfeld's satirical humour is lost when filtered down for the eyes of a child, although a few nice touches of his comic wit survive. The story is too ambitious for the short (80 mins) running time, trying to cover too much ground and thus jumping around a lot. The animation is adequate, but naught to write home about. However to knock the whole film on this basis would be to miss the point - this is a kids film, and the little tykes will lap it up and spend days flapping their arms and buzzing around you as they recreate moments from the film in their imaginations. There is no doubt that there is plenty here for the kids to love, but sadly the film lacks what made Shrek so great - cross age humour which adults and kids could enjoy together. mark it in the can do better category.

KIDS ENJOYED IT BUT I DIDNT I THOUGHT IT WAS A BIT STUPID I NORMALLY LOVE KIDS FILMS BUT NOT REALLY THIS ONE

Bees versus the Humans in a ridiculous court case. Don't get me wrong, this isnt a bad movie, but my 5 year old daughter who has overwatched many of her animated movies would not sit through this at all... she lost interest. Its not quite Over the Hedge.

Bee Movie.. love the title, however it didnt live upto the hype. The voices were really good, but the story is just another message in a cartoon film and its all getting a little bit to boring now.

I wasn't sure about this movie for my 6 year old and 4 year old as I had wondered if it would be a little over their heads.  I'm sure there were parts where they laughed without being sure of the humour but all in all, they loved this film and insisted on watching it 4 times before it was wrestled back into the envelope to be mailed back!

Cute animated film, suitable for the whole family, the film is about the bee world and how their world works!

we didnt really like it, found it silly and a bit boring, a bit of a let down

OK, my kids all loved it and the graphics are lovely. The insight into the lives and livlihoods of bees is lovely, however the story and the characterization are not that good. Pre and post successors are much better. You just do not feel for the main characters and their relationships. All cartoons seem to capture the imagination of kids though and this one doesn't fail to impress them. An OK family film just not one to go out of your way for though.

Another Great Film to keep the kids quiet, even 'Big Kids' will enjoy it...

the script writers where brilliant. its got a great story to it, no boring moments at all. as the animation is just incredible.. and keeps you watching the amazing work these people did on the movie. in 25 years old and i loved it.

Definately one for the kids this, was a fast paced, pretty much humourless animated film. Great idea (very similar to the kind of thing Pixar would do). Nice idea for a story and the voice over actors were well chosen. Although I don't know what it is about American humour, I just don't really get it, never have and I doubt I never will! So only a few jokes made me laugh. I liked the way the bee life was perceived, which was very clever and well thought out. I won't give away the ending but it wasn't brilliant and ruined the whole film (in my eyes) as even for a cartoon it was pretty far fetched! although maybe, just maybe, it could teach the youngsters a thing a or two about pollenation? I'm sure the kids would love this, but nothing much here for the adults to enjoy!

I'm always impressed with these computer animations. Since Toy Story, these films keep improving and Bee Movie is excellent. The humour is spot on and the characterisation is fantastic. Bee Movie is worth watching more than once, if only for the animation wow-factor. BEE-autiful!

I enjoyed thie movie great animation through out, not bad story. If you liked all the other film of this type you should also like this one too.

We loved this, good feel good family film.

...but predictable.

Well, I found this film quite enjoyable but far fetched to put it mildly. The plot was simple yet hugely flawed. However, I enjoyed Jerry Seinfeld angst ridden performance and Renee's dippy turn and my kids watched it over and over again...

Really really enjoyed this movie. Yes, it's a bit childish at times but it's all in the name of fun.... Lots of comedy moments along the way, the dialogue is very clever with the little bee/honey jokes. And it's funny all the way through. It's beautifully animated and a feast for the eyes...fast paced and lighthearted. Put this on on a Saturday afternoon and it will probably be the best babysitter you could find for a couple of hours!

OK so we've had ants, rats - in fact a menagerie of animal films - so here's one about bees.  Allegoric look at life in the 'hive' which is well done.  Good story and funny dialogue make it a good family watch.  Kids'll love it - mine watched it about 10 times while we had it at home!

Fantastic film, recommended for the whole family. Would of scored five if there was a blu ray version, but that wouldnt stop the kids from being totally engrossed and peaceful.

I try and stay away from overhyped films for a few months so that when i see them i am pleasently supprised, not overhyped and let down, any way this is a good film with good attention to detail and good gags and site jokes as well, that you actually see more times you watch it, good clean innocent fun, for the whole family! i feel as a whole better than shrek, there are some brilliantly clear scenes where they are flying at high speed and they still have as much detail and chrispness about them as the slower scenes, i know its all cgi but still a good showing of how good the graphics have got in just a few yearsof cgi.

Unlike Shrek, Bee movie is not a film that I would suggest an adult to see if they do not have children. While it is enjoyable in parts, overall the adult jokes included in the film are not as funny and I found myself getting bored towards the end. However if you do have children, this is a good family film and worth hiring.

It seems far too many people have taken this film too seriously. This is a kids film, pretty with bright colours, and numerous Bee jokes to keep the adults entertained. We quite enjoyed it. It is what it is, a story about a Bee who makes friends with a human, fights against humans taking their honey, then realises that the world will change if bees no longer need to keep pollenating and making honey. Enjoy it for what it is and take some time out of your day to relax and watch it. Do not watch Barry Norman style ready to criticise at each and every turn. Kids will enjoy it and likewise adults should also. Listen out for Chris Rocks line (the mosquito) once he becomes a lawyer.

its a very funny kids movie about that foes what bees are not suppose to do but he does and cause havoc in the end it all comes full circle

Likeable, childlike and innocuous with some enjoyable sgements within the hive. If the movie had not ventured into interacting with humans it would have been better. Parents need to further educate their children that this is a fairy tale that has absolutely nothing to do with the real life or character of bees. Good movie to watch if you have nothing better to do.

The kids loved it and it was educational in parts

Just good fun to watch - very colourful and fast moving. Not as good as the Shrek films but livened up a dull Sunday evening. Will look at Bees in a new light from now on!

Bee Movie was absolutly hilarious! I loved it, especially the boyfriend character, i havn't laughed so much in ages. I'm eighteen and my sister is four and we both sat there laughing until we cried. Its a family movie through and through that everyone will enjoy and although its a bit silly, with bees talking to humans, its undeniably a great film. Think finding nemo with a lot more attitude.

when we had recieved the bee movie myself and my son watched it over and over again, we found it very funny in places an very injoyable to watch, this movie is the best children's movie that we have ever watched they had sad bits and load of happy bits, the ending was so wonderful hope their make bee movie 2, as i do know that it beats the normal children's films. As this film gets 10 out of 10 for very good performance.

My son loved this and the moral of the story was great; a lovely way to interest a child in caring for the environment!

I was hoping this would b a funny one but although it was good & had an environmental message ' Bees help flowers grow & spread pollen ' etc it just wasnt that funny but cute!

Great family movie with lots of jokes for adults.

Rented this movie for my 12 year old son who normally likes this kind of film e.g. cars etc. He thought it was only quite good and not in the class of cars, finding nemo. He stated the film is worth watching but he wouldn't go out of his way to watch it.

Theres alot of reviews on this already, but I loved it, it was funny and kept me entertained. Good gags, especially when he's on the Honey Farm truck with Chirs Rock's Mosquito. Worth renting for the whole family!

I thought this film was great, My daughter watched it at least 5 times, It really made her think about flowers and she realised that Bee's really are not scarey they are useful.

An entertaining movie that both children and adults will enjoy. It exceeded my expectations.

As a family we were not sure what to expect from this film but there is a moral to the story which unfolds throught. Not very realistic as children might think Bee's can talk to them! One of those films you are glad you watched but would not watch again.

An amazin clean animation, funny, great voice overs, and even the behind scenes footage is great viewing. i love animation,and this is now one of my fav's. great honest family fun movie. well worth buying for watch on a rainy day. great 1st time by jerry seinfeld, hopin he will do more. 5 stars buzzin.

this film is awesome. i hate cartoons and never watch them. but i love seinfeld so i got this - i loved it. seinfeld is brilliant. good cast, lots of fun, moving story, good jokes. i loved it.

I know it's a cartoon and anything's possible, but I found the premise of a bee talking to a human and going to court etc just too silly to handle. The americanisation of the hive 'factory' and the rescue of the world's honey..... The characters were good and the humour was fine and kids would love it, but adults may find it irritating.

It's Bee Movie, you know what to expect, and it delivers it. Does exactly what it says on the tin of honey. I wouldn't watch it again though, it's no Bugs life or Antz.

Good film to watch with family fun viewing

Very clever and fun movie. Educational for kids as well as entertaining. And lots of references for adults only. Not what I expected but thoroughly enjoyable

The kids & I loved this film. Informative for kids to get an insight to bees. The disc also had a quiz with real bee info that they loved. Well worth getting for kids.

To all those with negative reviews I can only say = what on earth did you think you were going to watch??? This is a perfect film in the 'antz' and 'bugs life' genre. Brilliant. As normal plenty adult as well as kiddy jokes. Superb enjoyment. And I don't even have little kids as an excuse. My teenage lads ran to put this on, and none of us were disappointed. Enjoy - and remember its a cartoon! If you don't like cartoons, don't order the film!!

A pleasant way to pass the time - harmless and enjoyable, especially for the younger age group.

A really great animated film for all the family not just the kids! My kids were glued . With laughs for the grown ups and slapstick for the younger ones. I highly recommend this film if you want a fab film for the family to sit and watch together. It brings a whole new light to the world of the Bee!

Great Family Movie kids & adult wil love this

Do not watch this film expecting it to be for adults ... it is not. This film is purely for the kids and because of that doesn't need to follow rules. It is, what it is - just a cartoon bee in a film. There is a story - which mostly makes no sense to adults as it doesn't follow rules but it is a good film for the younger kids. Just watch it and enjoy without expectations.

Lovely film with great voices for characters from Jerry Seinfeld, Rene Zellweger and Chris Rock. Very nice storyline and entertaining for the kids. Well worth seeing!

I really enjoyed this film plot was a bit thin but it is a kids movie, What it lacks in storyline it makes up for in gags the animation was excellent. An enjoyable film for the whole family.

My three kids aged 4, 7 and 10 all enjoyed this and asked for it again. Great rental for mixed ages.

As an adult (at least my age says I am) I love this type of film especially when watching with grandchildren, I can always tell if it is a good film if they sit and watch without their attention wandering. Rated by the children 4 stars.

Funny wee film for kids silmilar story to 'Ants' that one insect goes it alone and eventually in this case by talking to a human the Bee causes problems with plant-life and then as is always the case...the Bee is a hero by helping to re-pollenate the few surviving plants......funny scenes where humans show how daft they can act when they encounter a bee.

Great film but not as good as Shrek or Toy Story

Quite a good family film. Although it was more for the children than for the adults it was still good to watch. Toy Story was I thought more for the adults than the children so it made for a better family film all-round. This film though seem to be a hint that bees and insects are good for this world, and should be respected (I felt I was back in kindergarten). I felt it was a little silly trying to preach to any adults who might be watching this, but it was a reminder anyway in case there are those who still haven't heard of global warming etc I suppose.

My kids loved this film. Ok, so did I. Excellent family film. My kids didn't want to send this film back. After the 15th or so time of watching it, it managed to post itself back!! Don't know how it happened!! I will have to buy it for them to watch in their room!!

Got kids? Watch it with them. No kids? Watch it yourself then! This movie is great! Funny for kids who will laugh at the funny man getting stung, and funnier for an older audience who will realise and understand the subtle jokes in there. With appearences from Sting and Ray Liotta as well as great voice-acting from writer John Seinfeld and the rest of the crew, this is well worth a rent!

It has been a long time since there has been a good cartoon movie. The Shrek series is good but all the same, Madacascar just didnt really appeal to me, and there are more that I cant even think of that were just not worth watching. The last good cartoon film was Finding Nemo. This, also doesnt really compare to the greats like Monsters Inc and Toy Story but it has some great humour in that appeals to both adults and kids, There are some big stars in this film considering it didnt really make any waves like most cartoons. I watched this movie twice, once with my girlfriend and once with her kid brother and I enjoyed it both times. It seems to drag on a bit at times and seems like there is more talking than action but on the whole it is an enjoyable film and worth a look.

Animation fantastic - story weak - all far too American and therefore alien for the other 95% of of the world.

Exactly what it set out to be - A fab film for the children (and Parents) Ifound this film easy to watch with my children and it had some very funny bits in it. My children were absolutely spell bound for a good hour or so. Highly recommended especially at the moment in the school hols.

Wow - What a film. I found this one moving and gripping. No sex or violence - just a real story beautifully told.

Very enjoyable watching, Its bright, colourful and full of bee gags both visually and verbally. I was pleased this film gives and underlying thought of what will happen should we find bees extinct, very well delivered. Definitely a family movie although I think some of the verbal jokes will be lost on children so be ready to explain mums and dads.

As an Adult I am not convinced, except for the fact that both my kids (boy of 9, girl of 8) loved this film and watched this a couple of times. My message is for a 'quiet afternoon' rent out this film.

This was a really good film. I must admit i was a little sceptical at first with it being a kids movie, but really enjoyed it and have recommended it to my friends!

So I ordered The Bee Movie just because I'm a huge Disney/Pixar animation fan and from what I could remember when the movie was released there was a lot of hype. Well I have to say I was left feeling a little disappointed after watching this. It just didn't really make me laugh out loud orfeel any kind of deep/strong emotion at all. This is one movie you can definatley give your kids a break from.

This is a great film to watch with the whole family. It has an easy to follow storyline, beautiful animation and fun, lovable characters. There are plenty of chuckles, but no real laugh-out-loud moments like Shrek or Finding Nemo. The storyline is entirely unbelievable, but the characters and voice acting are strong enough to carry it through. Overall a very gentle, feel-good, fun film.

I think this is a really good film. A definate one for the family with laughter throughout! Ok, so its weird how the humans and bees have no problem with each other communicating, but its a relaxing, afternoon movie, which promises to be a good watch!

Aww this film was really sweet, may sound weird but it was! There was quite a lot going on and the start was really good, the whole court thing at the end however was a bit silly, but then again this film is about talking bees that fall for humans, hmmm! I liked the message that the film aimed to get across to kids- bee's don't want to hurt you, they are doing a job to help us & die if they sting you. Overall, a feel good film with a happy ending.

Great funny film with a little 'seriousness' - good for the family

An unusual animated movie with an obvious message, or not so obvious if you are of the younger persuasion. That message being kill honey bees and extinction for every living thing on the planet will not be far behind. A very worrying message told in an interesting tale, without lecturing.

didnt enjoy this film, turned off after 20mins or so! first impressions not good, didnt grab our attention.

I fail to see how anyone couldn't like this. From the amazing animation and the fantastic cast to the clever little environmental message this film just fills you with happy thoughts throughout. It looks bright and colourful, the action sequences are brilliant and okay the storyline's a bit weak, but most small children aren't going to notice that. Give this one a chance and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

This film was very different, what with a bee and a human cozying up but totally funny and good to watch. Really educational too, never knew Bee's where so vital. Very good for the kids, still fun for adults. Worth watching.

Very Very Funny indeed - I am pretty sure these films are for adults really..my daughter really enjoyed it.

This film just cannot decide whether it's a kids movie or an adult comedy or a social commentary. The visuals are okay, so the kids should be entertained but the storyline is just a bit too far fetched ; just how do people and bees 'speak' to each other? I have to admit by the time we got to the court case I had lost interest in the film and can't even remember how it ends.. Sorry Dreamworks, but you are still way behind Pixar.

This was a really good family movie, it kept the children hooked from the start i would recommend to family's with various age range.

A great film for younger children.

You'd think Disney would have no ideas left for filnms, but this was a great idea and had a strong storyline and was funny. Should have got more attention when it was released cuz it's awesome. If you want a good, innocent family film you should get this. The kids will love it.

This was a great film to watch with the kids and I have actually gone out and bought this for them as they kept wanting to watch it again. Great animation an a great story line you will not be disappointed.

Wasn't really looking forward to this watch but boy was I wrong. The whole family had great laughs at this and I could easily watch it again!

My 6yr old loves this film and it really isn't too much of an ordeal to watch it with her, but not too often. There is plenty for adults here too, very slick and not so horribly sickly sweet it puts you off after 10 minutes. Watch with the kids for some great family entertainment.

The story line is very odd! Even more weird then talking rats and toys! But with some clever humour this will keep you entertained. Much better then Cars, Ratatouille and Shark Tale. 4 stars given however i had had 4 glasses of wine so maybe 3 and a half sober !

To start with Jerry Seinfeld's voice put me off so much, this guy should not be allowed to impersonate bees in the future. Although I really enjoy seeing this kind of movies, the action was more destined to teach the little kids the importance of having bees around. Nothing funny, entertaining or original.

This is a great family movie. The detail inside the hive was funny and although the plot is rather bizarre it works if you don't think too hard about it! A film you can sit down and watch with the kids without having to think very much.

The critics hated this film and so I was apprehensive. After all, compared to Finding Nemo, Ants and similar, this had a lot to live up to. Well, all I can say is this was a lot more sophisticated than I'd expected. It's definitely got levels aimed at an adult audience and the script makes it. Just when you think you've heard it all before and this movie is likely to be a bore...it changes direction and keeps one entertained. I stayed awake right until the end and laughed in several places, which is high praise from me. Not a huge Sienfeld fan (I do like George's character and others on the show though) so that was unappealing. But, there's a quality cast here (e.g. Rip Torn). There's some fun cameos too...notably from Sting and Ray Leyota.

You would think that a film such as this could only be aimed at children, but I have to say that I considered some elements of the tale, and some of the countless funny lines, seem to be better suited to adults. Seinfeld, never my cup of tea at the best of times, takes the leading role and partly wrote the script too, so to me it seems hardly surprising that it's not as childish as the marketing suggested. But it's what my primary-school-age children thought that really matters, and they gave it the sums up. They said it was funny and they must be telling the truth as they were laughing quite a bit throughout. It's interesting though that unlike other animated films like this of the past decade or so, they didn't ask to watch it again immediately afterwards, and in fact they didn't ask at all until I suggested they see it again a few days later. They said they preferred it to Wall:e, but they enjoyed Kung Fu Panda and Ratatouille more. So although they gave it 4 stars, having watched it myself I'm not sure it deserves a 'very good' rating. I'm sure that hundreds of people worked passionately to produce and create it and they are doubtless proud of it, but as a consumer I think it merits only an 'Above Average, worth a try' label from me : 3 stars. Three and a half if I could. It's good, but there are better children's animated films than this one.

Typical pixar movie but still watchable kids thought it was good but same story line.

The trailers didn't do this film justice, it's a great movie for kids and adults alike to enjoy as a family. Plenty of action to keep the little ones entertained, plus witty one-liners and comic references to make sure the adults don't fall asleep! A surprising hit all round in fact.

I rented this film for my kids, but I enjoyed it just as much as they did. It was lovely to sink back, and be drawn into this fantasy world of bees. It didnt go down the cheesy route I thought it would, and was much better film for it.

Though I do feel perhaps I was the only one I the cinema picking up on the Seinfeld-esque gags and pretty much the only one who laughed non-stop much to the chagrin of my nieces and nephews who I’d dragged there for ulterior motives – namely trying not to look like a creepy creeperson! The graphics and the story are great. My children got a lot of enjoyment from this film and kept watching it over and over again. There was a very important ecological point to the story even my 7 year old picked up on. I would highly recomend this film for it's feel good factor and entertainment value.

complete rubbish. the story was ok at best but was a complete let down. the humour that normally carries these films was practically non-existant. far too silly, absurd and obvious for anyone above the age of 6. don't bother!!

We both love kids animated movies....it was a nice gentle hangover watch, with a few comic moments and a nice story that runs throughout. The court case was exceptional with all the pros and cons of bees and honey etc! It wasn't laugh out loud funny but a good feel good factor and a nice message behind it! Worth a watch!

If you have ever seen the the film ants and liked that your like this too. If i have to compare this with ants id say the story is not as good but it tends to be a bit more silly and funny with lots of jokes about bees, and like the other dreamworks animated films this one also has excellent grapics. Im glad i rented it and watch it but i wont buy it or bee renting it agian.

Clever movie, one for the family

Quite clever and entertaining. Not the best animation I've seen, but well worth seeing.

You must be over a certain age to get that! Like 'Frasier' the Seinfeld bunch became iconic with their one-liners & repartee that frequently cracked up the cast to the extent that many takes of their audience performances would dissolve into hysterics - watch the DVD outtakes & cast comments! How they ever got through 22mins at all?? By some similar accounts in the DVD extras of this B - saga, they also had a honey of a time with their characters especially Jerry & Renee who clearly had lots of fun talking to a Bee. (And we all loved J Cricket!). This film has Seinfeld all over with his unique breezy & philosophical attitudes at least until he discovers how the product of a lifetime of toil ends in large jars on supermarket shelves. Of course it's nonsense! Of course it's just 95 minutes of childish fun because Seinfeld at 40 has a sharp and young mind that certainly appeals to me and,apparently many others. He is master of the observance of life's/society's senseless & ridiculous practice's - the minutae of everyday life... '.....what's the deal with Ovaltine? The mug is round - the tin is round...??' 'Seinfeld' had its 'Close talker, Soup Nazi, Fanatical Library Inspector & all the other weirdos, who behaved like they were in some kind of a Lewis Carroll fantasy with Elaine as some kind of demented Alice.(Is that real fur you got on?) Who else would accept a bizarro world and Barry B exists in his own beezarro world as he discusses his problems with a flower girl and defends the universal theft of honey in a bizarro court .... and wins''!! Just consider that the Seinfeld crew here was a dedicated bunch and the clever dialogue & every aspect of the production took as much work and creativity as any Disney cartoon. Technically it has much going for it just as in 'Toy Story'. it isn't laugh-out-loud stuff but it does say everything you'd like to know about bees & next time you smother your waffles with the sweet stuff - remember this movie!! And in his unassuming style,Jerome is a good actor in spite of himself. Catch its DVD release & extras to complete the experience! So buzz if you like but don't sting me!

Yes this film is bright and colourful but it is all over the place, banal, tedious and plain boring. Compared to the likes of Monsters Inc it is a waste of time and money.....

[Bee]low average film written by and 'staring' Jerry Seinfeld. Like most of Seinfeld's comedy there is a Jewish undercurrent to the story with the usual jokes about the underachieving son who should have married a Lawyer. I felt most of the jokes seemed to be aimed at adults and my two children (5 & 3) didn't make it through to the end.

Good movie, my daughter got a little bored after a bit. But I still enjoyed it.

I rented this film for my little girl who is 4 years old. She was glued from the miute i turned it on. The film has brilliant animation and has cleverly made with interesting facts about bees (which i did not know either) and a very endearing look at bees and how they are treated by humans. After she saw it, I went straight out and bought this film to add to her collection.

Brilliant says my 9 year old! We all enjoyed this film. Would recommend.

We went to the cinema to watch this when it was out in the Summer, but it was still godd to watch a second time around. Its a lovely film for the kids and quite a nice story to it as well.

Another animation with very cute characters and sexy voices (like Zellweger) but lacks a good story line. Kids liked the humour but they were a little bored with the story. I like animations but this was just OK and lacked the dual level 'works for all' complexity of the story that some other animations have oodle of. Worth a watch on a wet Sunday. Way better than 'Surf's Up' IMO.

Morgan Freeman Strikes again, this man can do no wrong

I did a double bill of animation movies this weekend, watching Kung Fu Panda first. However, the Bee movie was just as enjoyable and even though unrealistic (esp the aeroplane scene) the plot was clever and had a good mixture of adult and children's jokes. It is only 90 minutes which is normal for an animation. Worth a watch!

We enjoyed this film but it does not stand up to close inspection. Seinfeld provides not just the voices but also the script, which explains the humour. Some of the best children's films have something for the adults here but this takes the concept a bit too far - maybe this film was intended as a dig at the genre of kids' films but that leaves it without a target audience. Seinfield the TV programme worked because it was stand up humour skilfully mixed into a sitcom format: this tries to do the same but it just comes over as a bit muddled and weird. There are some great jokes here, but as a whole it does not work.

Watched Bee Movie with the kids (twins age 7). I thought it was just Ok, one of my daughters enjoyed it and the other wasnt really interested. Theres much better movies out there for the kids.

I love a good animated movie - Toy Story, Bugs Life, Shrek - all very good films aimed at adults and kids alike. Bee Movie tries and fails to reach this league of animated greats. The script is poor, un-funny and made up of pretty much 1 bee joke and lots of Jewish undertones the whole way through. I switched it off at the half way point when the Bee is in court suing the Honey Industry. One for the kids maybe, definitely not the adults.

This has the same sort of plot as Antz, etc, but with a green message as well. Good humerous bits and satirical references that adults will get. I know they are cartoon characters, but you do engage with them a lot and want them to succeed. A feel good film for all ages.

My Grandadson and I watched this twice in less than 24 hours. Really enjoyed and it it kept his interest all the way through.

I know these films have a message to children and adults and this one was to protect (this time bees) or suffer the outcome but the storyline was so unbelieveable and there wasn't even any child humour to keep you entertained.

The kids said ' no it was good 'when I said it was garbage.... soooo.... who am I to go against their superior judgement. Its a kids movie after all. Totally inacurate factually though I did watch it to the end mostly hoping it would get better.

Very ethical story line and it certainly makes you think about how crucial bees are in our survival. Infact I have even thought of getting a bee hive for the garden. Very entertaining as well. Great for children/family.

Great movie for kids, great graphics

Stupid story. Bee in love with a human. Why bother? It seemed made up as they went along and lost the plot. Adult views and feelings in a children's film makes no sense. I liked Ant story but this is not clever story. Returned it immediately. Rubbish and a huge YAWN from kids.

Was perfect for my two-and-a-half year old daughter but just average for grown-ups. Didn't manage the kid/adult cross-over of films like Shrek and Monsters Inc.

I am surprised to see that this movie has had other bad reviews. I thought that the jokes were very funny and my 4 year old would watch it every night! If you appreciate the humour of Jerry Seinfeld then this will make you really laugh. It is just a nice movie that also shows children a bit about the world around them as well as trying to make them giggle at the same time. Don't take things too seriously and just try and have a laugh with this film.

What a film! It’s not the best animated (cgi) film I have seen but it is defiantly an enjoyable engaging one. Its one that the whole family would enjoy. Not much to say without giving it away but if you are a lover of these types of films then watch it. You’ve already waited too long to watch it!

Not as good as other films of the same thing but it does have the hidden meaning of 'don't mess with what you got as it effects bigger things' good for kids, annoying for adults.

Although there was a handful of clever and funny moments in the film, Bee Movie remains exactly that - a B Movie! Much better and funnier animated movies are plentiful to find!

Looked forward to this but was a little disappointed. Animation was excellent but plot having started well rather fizzled out becoming silly. Good but not that good.

This was a nice cartoon. We thought it was fun -very relaxing

good, not a classic but good none the less. Not a big jerry seinfeld fan but there are funny moments inthere. An its looks gtreat on blu ray, really colourful. It also teaches kids alittle about the relationship between plants and animals. Glad i put it on the list.

Easy going, a few good funny bits, but that's about it. Good for kids and perfect for those nights where you can't really be bothered to use much brain power! 3 stars.

You see what I did there? The bee pun? Well, multiply that joke, and the contempt you felt, by one hundred or so, and you have the opening act of The Bee Movie. After an endless parade of hive mentality gags, seemingly chosen for their ingenuity than for their hilarity, my five year old ended up asking for CBeeBies (ho ho ho, I just can't help myself) instead. Thinking back, that was right around the point where the cast get together for that staple of Happy Meal tie ins: the civil suit courtroom scene. Now, why ever did she lose interest in that? In the main, Pixar make animated movies that entertain the whole family without patronizing or offending either child or adult, so why do DreamWorks so often favour a combination of both? Here, this wry humour results in a self-consciousness that undercuts any emotional involvement we might have with the characters. It's as if the producers saw the 'blooper reels' from the earlier Pixar movies and thought, 'Gee, we could make our entire movie like that: one ninety minute nudge and wink'. Thankfully, the thoroughly entertaining Monsters Vs Aliens shows DreamWorks are starting to take note: but that's a review for another time.

I can't comment particularly as I was in and out of the room at the time but my son was thoroughly entertained. Innocent animation with some humour and huge fun for the kids.

You can tell jerry Seinfeld wrote this - the jokes are very sophisticated and my cynical husband laughed all the way through. One of those rare animations that kids and adults can both enjoy on different levels.

This is one of the worst kids' movies I've seen for a long time! My 9 year-old son enjoyed it, but my teenaged son and I were bored and irritated. There are so many great kids' movies that adults and teens can watch and enjoy too - Shrek, Wall-e, and so on - but this one is definitely a movie to leave them to watch alone, while you go and do something more interesting!

Within its limits, very successful . Some great animated flights. The jokes are relentless and inventive. Probably good to watch with kids though a lot of the humour might well pass them by.

I thought it was hilarious and my little sister lovedit. To me it put a whole new perspective on bees, you never know they might actually live like that!! I also think they should bring out a second one!

It is wholesome family fun. Not a path on toy stoy. wall-e or shrek but then again few are. Aimed at the younger viewers.

We're huge Seinfeld fans so the fact that Jerry 'plays' the lead in the movie was to be honest the main reason we wanted to see this film. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations, my four year old enjoyed it but wasn't interested in watching it more than once. Compared to similar movies like Madagascar the Bee Movie is really lacking a good basic storyline. Shame considering how lovlely and colourful it was and the bees were cute!

This film is for all the family, not just for the young children. It is comical. Its about a bee who realises that the world is unfair. So he decides to take on the world and then he learns the consequences of his actions.

I found this a dissappointing. The story line was not original and not enough humour for me.

Bee movie was a good movie with plenty of laughs. I enjoyed it as it had lots of invention behind the set and characters in it. A lot of the animated films follow suit to the last and run dry and boring with the same old gags after a while. This was fresh and made me laugh lots. It's a story of a bee who is getting ready to start work. He's always wanted adventure and escapes the nest to find it after finding out the job he chooses will be for life. Once outside the hive he discovers that not all humans are cruel bug swatters. He then realises humans are using the bees honey to make money and tries to fight his case in court. Bees versus the leaders of a rich, money making company, not concerned how they treat their bees. Voices by Renee Zellwegger, Chris Rock and John Goodman. Good film for all the family.

Watched this with my 5 year old daughter who loved it to bits and kept her quiet.

This film tried to make adults and children laugh at the same time, which some animated films manage really well. In this case it didn't, a lot of the references in the film my daughter did not understand at all. It seemed to be aimed at adults more than the children.

Really didn't enjoy this at all. Found it boring and trite. In fact I struggled to stay awake through it all. Kids would probably enjoy it though.

My other half absolutely loved this, so much in fact that she wishes to purchase the film so as to watch it many times over. Myself – well it wasn’t a bad little number. It is something for the family to sit down and watch though it’s worth remembering some will need explaining to the younger members of the tribe. The premise of the film is highly uncomplicated and moves along at steady pace never too quick but never really getting that fast either. As an Aesop’s Fables kind of film it holds its own and does deliver the moral story well. Mostly though your hoping for comedy after all that is what you’re expecting. Thankfully there are humorous moments and laugh out loud jokes dotted throughout. The actual plot does sometimes get in the way of what could have been extremely funny so this comes in under the radar on the hilarity scale. If you or someone you’re planning on watching this with is a Disney or DreamWorks fan then this a must otherwise there are better animated comedies to rent meaning that “Bee Movie” shouldn’t be a first choice.

Yes this movie is for the children but it is brilliant. I watched it with two teenagers and my husband and I, and all of us were in stiches. If you are looking for one of the few movies left, without swearing, violence and nudity (even thought the bees aren't fully dressed) then look no further. Good fun!

BEE------utiful ! what a great film, good cameo Chris Rock , jokes for both kids and adults alike. Ending could of been better, a little bit more realistic but then as it's prodomiantly a kids film it fits the bill. Not sure of the over all message that seems to be played upon through out the entire film, can be construde as quite sinister if you're willing to look deeper, but on face value, great film for all the family to enjoy

Not bad, made one see a bee in a different light. Realised what was going to happen before the bee's got all their honey back!!!!

Bee Movie only just manages to overcome it's awkward premise and flat plot thanks to it's consistant light humour and it's fun, clean charm. Visually the film isn't particularly imaginative and the bee jokes do begin wear thin towards the end. Jerry Seinfeld does essentially play himself and his presence is strongly felt throughout the film, unfortunately the rest of the strong cast go somewhat unnoticed.

Very entertaining. My son was laughing through it and was pretty much glued to the screen all the way through. Fantastic family fun!

Yes a kids movie but probably for the under 5's only. Certainly both my children (over 5 & under 10) found it boring and switched off after 30 mins.

Sorry guys, you really havent done it for me this time. The CGI was very plasticky and I done know how but the characters are really wooden. I didnt feel anything for the characters at all. I guess the best thing about it was the statement regarding the possible loss of Bees. This really wasnt a feast for the eyes.

Ok, I confess, I am a beekeeper. If bees stopped working, it would be catastrophic for Man, not just a few florists out of business. Sadly there are lots of people out there now with a very warped view of the sterling work bees do.

Interesting film. My 10 year old enjoyed it, which is the main thing. I say that, because a lot of titles I have on my list are more to his liking.

It may be a children's film but I seem to love children's films! I keep waiting for a bad one but this one continued the trend set by the likes of Toy Story and Shrek...it was funny and well created and had those hidden jokes and innuendoes just for us adults!

My daughter loved this film. She's six, and can now go out in the garden and not be afraid of the bees! This film is a nice family film, but lacks that special something which you get from Cars or Shrek. Nice soundtrack though.

Watched this with my six year old daughter,and we both laughed out loud (think she was laughing at me!) Love Seinfeld and he didn't disappoint because I KNEW IT WAS AIMED AT KIDS!!!!! still plenty in there for the adults,Chris Rock cameo gets the best line towards the end of the movie. A good Sat/Sun afternoon movie to share with the kids and leave you all with a smile.

For once I actually enjoyed a kids movie. The gags were old but if you listen there is a lot of Adult inuendo, i enjoyed this one

With 2 small children I get to watch a lot of kids films. This has got to be one of the worst I've seen for a while. If there were jokes in it I didn't notice, certainly no-one in the room was laughing. At some point in the turgid tale they end up in a court case! What kid is interested in (or even understands) a legal dispute! My youngest picked up his DS after half an hour and my eldest wandered off to play in an other room. And someone should give the writers a biology lesson! Or at least show them how flowers grow, and what pollen is actually used for! I learnt all that at 13! Sheesh I'm prepared to suspend my scientific knowledge to a certain extent but this was so crass it should be removed! Thank heavens I rented it not bought it!

It's a shame! A film that could have been so much better, the film was slightly unbelieveable from beginning to end! The story line wasn't very well thought out at all my two year old daughter watched the first 2 mins and lost interest!!! Kinda says it all....
