I might be drunk (what am I saying? I AM drunk) but this film has got to be the greatest in the world.

If I was one of the characters in this movie I would be the big dude who fires the massive machine gun long after it has run out of bullets. No, wait a minute, I would be the Native American guy who is good at picking up people's tracks.

What am I saying? I'd be Arnie. He takes on the Predator and really gives him what for! Yeah, I'd be Arnie, he's the best. This is a great movie. The best of all time.

This is definitely one movie that I never get tried of watching. Plenty of carnage, steroid abuse, machine-gun deforrestation, terrific scenery, cheesy but wonderful one-liners and Arnie doing what he does best - blowing stuff up!

Let's get ONE thing straight about this film: This is for MEN! This is a MAN'S action flick. There is no love story to keep your date cuddled up with a pillow at night, no sub-plot about boyhood friendships, and no breaking down and saying, "I can't take it, Sarge, I can't go on!" Nope, this film is about guns and gore.

This is Arnie at his peak. Top action, laughs aplenty and dripping with cheese. If you only watch one Arnie film, watch this, and Commando. Oh, that's two.

Ok, it's an Arnie film and has a lot of gratuitous muscle bulging but some deft touches and interesting ideas make it very worth watching.

The Predator is an original and scary alien that is a worthy opponent to Arnie at his fiercest and the supporting cast do a good job of showing the shock that hits a supposedly elite combat unit as they gradually realise they are utterly outclassed.

There are some great lines, the special effects are minimal and have aged pretty well. The story is well paced, and the suspense builds up to a climactic ending. The true star of the movie is of course the Predator who turns out to be not just doing it for fun, but a very good sport too.

Anyway, if you think thats all just pretentious twaddle watch it for the minigun scene. Its fantastic :)

Well what can you say about this masterpiece?
Sci-fi wise its an amasing idea. Action wise its unstoppable. Arnie and Carl Weathers do an excellent job in building the tension.
The idea presented is incredibly original.
Guys will like it for the big guns, and explosions with the jaw dropping addition of this Alien Predator.
Girls will like it for all the muscles.

Keep it Real!

Like most Americans, this is big, brash, shallow, full of gung ho cobblers but fun to look at. The second best film John McTiernan made in the 80's - Die Hard is still his best.

No matter how many times I watch this film, I still get a huge kick out of it and believe in me I have seen it quite a few times (over one hundred-where do I find the time?). This film is simple, it does not require thought, it does not need deep concentration...this film is perfect for any red-blooded males. Arnie still has the 'beef' and carries this film to its closure with animal magnetism and raw appeal. When I first saw this film I was so engrossed, struck with the idea of man versus the impossible enemy but man won, probably due to Arnie's huge biceps just bulging away. The 'predator' was scary, an inhuman, physical presence that enjoyed the hunt and enjoyed the kill even more. This film is basic in its idea but it sure delivers in action, action and more action. Bring it on!

One of Ahnuld's greatest films, and the start of a great career in action films for director John McTiernan. The plot is the most basic of things, with a group of elite soldiers being picked off one by one by an unseen enemy (the awesome Predator). This film is so 80's it hurts, and the acting is ropey at best (save for a scenery chewing turn from Carl Weathers), but that's not the point. This film does exactly what it says on the tin, and in it we have a lean, mean, and bloody action film, showcasing why the 80's was so great. See if you can spot Carl Weather's real arm after he gets his fake arm blown off! Avoid the lame sequel though.

Well here we go, choose a review of any Arnie film and substitute its name with Predator and you?ll get the plot in a minute. Arnie movies always follow a formulaic plot and this one is no different. Substitute the terrorist, spy, or villain for the alien and you know what you?re in for. But we know when we see Arnie up on the billboard that we are not getting Hamlet, unless you watch ?Last Action Hero?. Here we get more bang for our bucks, big bangs, big guns and big muscles. The jungle scene is overloaded with bullets and gets my ?Gratuitous use of Automatic Weaponry? award for the 1980?s. Enjoy!

I had never seen this film but I can see why it is considered a classic. However in the light of modern films it feels *really* dated and far too Arnie!

This is one of my favourite films of all time! Perfect!

You have to admit that this is one of if not “the” best 80’s kick ass action movie. Well they don’t make them like this any more. Ok they try but they are generally pants and the muscle bound heroes are a dying breed or rather they are too busy opening restaurants, running for Governor of California and getting old.

This film has it all, Arnie in his best form and the coolest killer alien type thing ever! The film is cheese on a stick but it conjures up a great rollercoster to keep any child of the 80’s happy! Rock on Arnie just doesn’t run for President!

Dark, post-colonial drama; haunting and insightful.

Although the effects seem outdated in the digital age we now live in this film is still worth a watch, Arnie is a strange casting choice but gives a decent performance against the super advanced predators. This classic film is not for people who enjoy the up to date effects as the predator effects are at times laughable but anyone mature enough to see past this should give it a chance.

Classic action film.

This is a splendid film from beginning to end, and made for Arnie!!! It is pure gore and action all the way through and no soppy bits whatsoever!!! It is one of those films I could watch over and over again, and is surely classed as a 'classic' in its genre.

Ahh, the stuff of literary genius...

Well not quite, but this landmark action film is so laden with quotable lines that it probably took over from Top Gun as the essential source for the 'quote every line of dialogue when you're pissed up' game that we've all played.
For example:
Blain (played by former wrestler Jesse 'the body' Ventura) offers his chewing tobacco around the chopper and receives no takers. Disgusted, he crams a load into his mouth and utters this cinematic gem:
'Bunch of slack jawed faggots around here! This stuff'll turn you into a god damn sexual tyrannosaurus... just like me!'
JUST CLASS!!
Arnie is on top form, and receives excellent support from all the small ensemble cast. The whole thing is carried along on testosterone, oversize muscles and square jawed masculinity, but it works for all that. John McTiernan adds this one to his list of good flicks alongside Die Hard and The Hunt for Red October, and these three alone go a long way to erase the thoughts of his crap offerings, such as Rollerball (shiver).
The creature is excellently realised, the music is especially effective, and the jungle settting's lush colours make for a strong picture.
2004 will be bringing a new Predator flick, namely Alien vs Predator, and one can only hope its even half as good as this classic no brainer.
Edit: Bad news is that it's being directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who made Resident Evil - yikes! - and it's aiming for a 12 certificate. Ah well, there goes the last hope I had for it being a good flick.......

One of my personal favorite action flicks of all time.

Arnie plays a crack unit leader led on a wild goose chase in the jungle, courtesy of Carl Weathers only to find his men being picked off one by one. Initially thinking that they are being tracked by another unit the team start to fight back in conventonal manner, only to find out they are being stalked by something altogether different.

If you want classical acting then rent Amilee. If action is your bag and you don't mind losing yourself to a bit of mindless fun then what better way to spend a couple of hours.

Arnie is great in this film the cinematography and soundtrack is superb- Its ninety minutes of pure testorone- without the cheese factor. From start to finish you will be hooked. A must for arnie fans as he dosnt go overboard on the acting, Support cast are great too. The sequel is an embarresment to this film.

enjoyed this film again and again, packed full of action from start to finish.... can't wait for ALIEN v PREDATOR later this year..

Everyone has seen this movie, I like it but the commentary from the director was a bit boring, he didn't seem very interested at all, plus i don't think the transfer from vhs to dvd has done the movie justice it's very blurry and poor at times it could have done with a good clean up, but that said it's still a good old kick ass movie

There is not one person in this film I didn't want predator cut in half! If only we could have seen more of the ass kicking, dreadlocked alien dude, instead of the crap muscle men that we get the entire movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's best work. Excellent plot, great acting, no unneccesary violence. Cert 18 is a bit harsh.

I just saw this on tv myself the first time then next time I was waching it with my father and my brother saw I was not upstares so he went down and my mothe said I will be up in a be upstares in a bit then my father said he will go sleep with him. And I was whaching it with my mother lying down on the bed sepret from me and it was like I was waching it myself because when I look at the tv I can't here my mother and can't even see her because I am looking at the tv. And even my father likes it as well and it is more exiting when you wach it the first time. and it is good no matter how much times you wach it.

Classic Arnie, so many quotable lines it's untrue 'If it bleeds, we can kill it!!' A great film, sit back and enjoy.

Really good film. The The scting is questionable (i'm hardly surprized it Arnie, its not really bad but its no Meryl Streep either) but the effects and action scenes make up for that. The creature is brill. A classic horror/Si-Fi film. A must rent.

Fairly typical of the movies Arnie did in the 80s. A good fun action movies with some fantastic one liners, I really enjoyed it. I don't think it will stretch your imagination too far and I suspect you'll be way ahead on the ending - but for an hour or two of some good old fashioned glorified violence you can't go far wrong with this fella.

Chose this film to try out my new plasma telly, good choice of film and maybe one of Arnies best films.

...Predator is a classic film, maybe worth 4 stars (couldn't give 3.5). One of Arnie's oldie but goodie films, full of action, very good. If you have never seen it, rent it, it's not boring.

Its only one of the best films ever made! Arnie, Jungle, Guns and lots of them, and the best Alien ever to have hit the silver screen! the music's great too.

If you've never had a chance to watch it take a gamble and you won't be dissapointed. The film is nearly 20 years old now but it's special effects are still up there. this is one i could watch time and time again. Don't expect oscar winning performances, just plenty of bullets and a nice bit of sci fi. 'enjoy'

If you love Arnold Schwarzenegger films then this film is perfect. It's one of his best films he's done and inspired a unfortunatly poor sequal and Alien Vs Predtor. But I would recomend this film to you. 5/5.

Apart from the Terminator films, I think Arnie's best. The perfect example of steroid-sodden 80s cinema melded with sci-fi action. A more intelligent script than most of its kind (action heroes get beaten through technology, they're not total cardboard cutouts, the possible Vietnam allegory), there's exciting set-pieces and a great villain. Perfect Friday night entertainment.

You cannot beat the godfather of 80's action hero's, the cheesey oneliners the greatest alien committed to celluloid. Put them all together you have a masterpiece of action cinema!!! Pure class... two thumbs fresh!

I much preferred this film to Alien! Although I did find myself cringing a few times at Arnie's typical lines, I thought that the film came across pretty well, I liked the special effects more (I assume a guy in a coloured suit which was edited to be transparent, but quite nice) Story wise I thought it had sufficient depth, with the local woman's reference to a demon and his trophies, hinting at a longer term past of the predator. One qualm I did have is that for some reason Arnie's 'mud disguise' kept him cool for long periods of time, whereas obviously in reality it would only last a few minutes before the mud heats to body temperature. Unless I am mistaken? I liked this film.

Well Worth a watch, never gonna be an oscar winner for best film but was never intended to be. Typical Arnie film, with plenty of guns, action and the odd bit of blood along the way. One of his better films.

Very scary, full of action and adventure. The special effects were amazing, the plot was great and the acting superb. I enjoyed it and thought that Arnie was good in this movie. Expect to be entertained.

Best film in the world. Ever!

best film ever! i must have watched this film 1000 times and it just gets better! right from the start when all the Special force's hard boys step out and leave the main man ARNIE in the chopper! and he locks arms with carl weathers and shows off his hardcore steroid biceps! and comes out with the most cheesist line in any arnie film made 'ya lookin good Dutch' this film has it all cheesy one liners massive guns, men with muscles that make Jean Claude Van damm look like a girl and most of all a Man Called Dutch that shows John Rambo what a real one man war is all about!

Classic 80's film and probably Arnold's best film. All cast are good as the macho soldiers who soon find they are way out of their depth and against a serious enemy. A really tense and effective thriller.

This is his best movie, and to be fair he's been in some decent ones. Terminator 2 for example. Excellant script perfect location and brilliant suspence makes this a fantastic film. You'll be hooked right from the start, and your buttocks clenched at the end. RENT IT RENT IT NOWWW!!!!!

Loved it - its not dated at all and puts some of the more modern efforts of the Genre to shame - Well worth watching.

Can't believe how well this movie looks considering it was made in the 80s. Seen the last two Predator films - but never the first. Thoroughly enjoyed it - although easy up on the ammo lads - you're not trying to decimate the entire jungle. :)

This is a very manly film which was kind of taking bits from Rambo and using it in it's own way. But it was still a thrilling film to watch with great acting and quotes

Went to see this when it came on the cinema. After first 5 minutes I thought 'This looks like its going to be painfull' But the ham acting and action mix well. The jokes one of the Soldiers tells were funny as hell and then you get to see the monster. Stan Winston made such a fantastic job creating the huge predator.

Still makes my flesh tingle over 20 years on. This film has all the fabulous technological enhancements that still leaves some of today's films' producers with a lot to learn. Plot is excellent, scenery is fabulous, technological abilities extraordinary; even Arnie could not have failed with this one.

It's got big muscles, it's got guns and it's got some weird alien creature that we're never quite sure where it came from or why, but it wants to kill Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you're ever in the mood for watching a movie, purely for its violent content and not its plot, Predator is perfect for the simple reason that it has no real plot and an absolute abundance of violence. Personally, my favourite part will have to be the 5 minute scene where the troop shoot at the trees for no real reason other than the other guy is doing it... true Arnie.

Having sat through John McTiernans peerless 'Predator' on more than one occasion, I always find myself watching not one, but two movies. The steady, rumbling opening 45 minutes, where we do not glimpse the creature, works very effectively as a hardened guerilla movie purely in itself. As the Predator picks off the hapless commando's, the film takes a very slow, direct, steady but not at all sudden shift into the thriller/horror territory. There are very few films that can accomplish, or have accomplished this, and it is to McTiernan's credit that he does not let up until the very end. It is a thrilling event to watch Predator both as an action movie, but also equally as a horror filled thriller movie.

Classic 80's Action Thriller about super tough dudes being picked off one by one by an even tougher Alien. What a great movie. The 'effects' have obviously dated, but the alien suit still has the wow-factor and the entire script is quotable. I forgot how much I love Arnie movies. Happy to be re-united. Great movie.

I have only seen this film about 100 times. Some great action but my favourite part is when the tension is cranked up. I was never a fan of Predator 2 or Alien Vs Predator but looking forward to the new film 'Predators'.

This is one of the iconic Arnie movies from his hey-day as Hollywoods leading meat head, and it is definitely one of his best films. It's dripping with cheesy lines that are etched in time such as 'I ain't got time to bleed' and the forever quoted (in best Arnie accent please) 'Run, go.......get to the chopper'. Is it a classic? I suppose it is yes. Did it win any awards? Of course not. Am I a question talker? Yes.

It was ok - probably more of a blokes movie and probably much better if it was watched at the time it was released. I like a few of the lines....'I aint got time to bleed' etc.

CLASSIC FILM YOU COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER BUT WHY WAS THIS THE 'SPECIAL EDITION'?

Arnie at his best, you either love him or hate him but this film is certainly well worth the watch.

Classic arnie outing. Uses every cliche available, but none the worse for that. A "must see" of the genre.

Waking up early with a murderous hangover I really enjoyed this no-brain-required muscle and gun fest. By the time it finished my aspirin had done their job and I could wander into work smiling at some of the worst dialogue ever. It's amazing how dated the effects look as well. Loved it!

I must have seen this movie 4 or 5 times and everytime I get the same tingle up my spine. Talk about building the suspense...

We don't even get to see the predator for the first 45 minutes! And even then we don't see him - the forest 'comes alive'.

Predator has all the ingredients of an Arnie movie, and tons more. Seriously good Sci-fi thriller.

Yes this is an old one, but i forgot how it all came about and although the acting is questionable the action is really good. Really enjoyed it.

I have seen PREDATOR before and only wanted to watch it again on DVD because I recently missed it on television. The premise is pretty simple: Arnie Vs. Alien in the jungle - - that's it. It does make for good entertainment, but Director John McTiernan has gone on to do better things: DIE HARD and THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. The film does have a very 80's feel to it, if Arnie is not talking thick Austrian-English, then he is firing a gun or chomping on a big cigar. PREDATOR is not a classic, but it's OK if you like that sort of thing.

This is an all time classic! Predator is one of those movies that has to be seen, if I had a list of movies to watch before you die this would be close to number one.

The film works best if, like me, you have no idea what's going on for quite a while. But even if you do know, this is a better than average version of the sort of film best personified by the masterpiece, "Alien", although clearly not in that class.

Arnie chews his way through a few cigars and a lot more enemy insurgents, and once again we see how macho US soldiers lose the plot when the going gets rough - always a satisfying sight. The best scene is when Arnie first works out how to stay one step ahead of the creature, and it is interesting how he has to return to low-tech combat to outwit a hi-tech opponent.

Far superior to the follow-up version (without Arnie), and an enjoyable piece of nonsense.
