Underworld: Evolution  (2006)

1. Brain turned to low ... check 2. Kate Beckinsale in tight leather ... check 3. Kate Beckinsale in the buff ... check 4. Copious amounts of vampire and werewolf rending action ... check This film isn't going to win any oscars and the plot isn't winning the Booker but it is a totally enjoyable, action packed romp.

I always found the first film rather lacking, it wasn't just that there was too much information missing, it was the fact it was immediately obvious that they were preparing sequel & as I thought at the time, they were saving everything for that. The second film is more action packed & better paced and in common with the first, has a plot with a distinct resemblance swiss cheese but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. The film picks up hours after the final confrontation between Victor, Celene, her beau & an assorted cast of Vampires & Lycans - don't worry if you don't remember anything, there's a handy little flashback every now & then to fill you in. The focus moves away from Celene, plunging straight into a different crisis where one of the remaining Vampire Elders, Marcus has been revived. Marcus, without giving too much away is the Daddy of all the Vampires & he has his own ideas about how they should move forward. The film gives more of the back story behind the feud between the Vampires & the Lycans, also more of Celene's past & why her family were slaughtered. All in all, I would have to say that this is pretty much a straight up action flick with Vampires and leave your brain at the door, or the holes in the story will drive you nuts.

Full of action, blood, gore and special effects. Believable characters portrayed by Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman and the supporting cast.
The film skips back to before the first film, to catch up on the new characters. Once you have digested this, it carries on from the end of Underworld, almost seemlessly.
Well worth a watch, in my opinion.

Whilst not probably as good as the first Underworld, the sequel Evolutions, is certainly a worthy second effort. As in the first film, the seemingly clear plot line relating to the war between Vampires and Lycans gets increasingly blurred, as Selene, Viktor and Marcus all slowly reveal/discover more of their history. Plenty of gore and large helpings of the delightful Ms Beckinsdale in the tightest leather suit in history (all tastefully done of course). What is not to like?

My grave concern is that when Underworld 3 comes out (and I am sure that it will), the quality will continue to meander downhill a la the "Blade" series from which it draws so much inspiration.

very impressed by the first film but it is pale in comparrison to this the sequel it reveals the history of mthe main main characters and delivers a none stop rollercoaster of action with the sexy kate beckinsale a must see for everyone

This is one action packed no brainer. It is well worth a watch if you liked the first one and possibly even if you didn't particularly like the first one. This one is better, unlike a lot of sequels that dont' seem to stand up against their firsts. So suspend belief for a couple of hours and relax your brain, cuddle up to someone you love and enjoy.

The original Underworld took me by surprise - I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. The sequel majors on action and loses a lot of the original's atmosphere in the process. Still, this is an entertaining, brains-off, piece of fantasy and worth seeing for any fans of either the original movie or of Kate Beckinsale in black latex!

couldn't make head nor tail of this, enjoyed the first film, this was a real let down

Too many people mistake cinema for art. Its primary intention is to (make money) entertain. This does so in abundance. Kate Beckinsale is a great lead doing sexy and smooth very easily, the male lead is a little wooden but (according to an authority on the subject) easy on the eye. I have not seen the first movie as I don't tend to do much cinematic vampirism, preferring the written version. However, it is apparent how much of an effect on the 'vampire/werewolf genre' Anne Rice has had. Certain aspects of the film are straight out of her vampire chronicles. For example, there has not been any mention of vampires being able to impart their strength to others via transfuion of blood until The Vampire Chronicles. The S & M undertones are there as well, catsuits and underwear clad vampiresses (sic). The vampire chronicles eventually go on to explain how the origin of the 'race ' began, this film introduces the person but not the reason which did slightly frustrate me. In summary, well shot, good sets and costume, reasonably good characterisation, if you're a fan of the Anne Rice books this film sits in familiar territory. If you like your vampires a bit more Sheridan Le Fanu, then unless your after an action movie rent something else, have you seen the original Bela Lugosi Dracula or Klaus Kinski as Nosferatu? Conversely if you liked Underworld go to the library and fall in love with the rogues found in Rice's pages. 'Interview with the vampire' is the first but not the best. DD

If you have seen the first one and enjoyed it then rent this, you wont be disappointed....if you haven't seen either and you enjoyed the likes of blade etc then your sure to like underworld, giving a (slighly) new twist on the Vampire / werewolf movie.

Great sequel with most of the cast back again to fill in the blanks of the past and build up the future.

this film is the bomb!!! don't listern to any of the critics reviews on this film. if you like vampire, werewolf films this runs riot on anything you have seen!!!! A must see!!! kate beckinsale rocks, added bonus to a great flick.

Fond as I am of the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale in a rubber catsuit the point of this film completely escapes me. Th story is no further on than at the end of the previous film but I am much less likely to waste another 2 hours of my life on this franchise.

Super! If you liked the first, then this won't dissapoint. Packed with great action, wicked special effects, solid storyline, and to top it all, the stunning Kate Beckinsale. Need I say more? Note: For those of you in the dark, this is vampires and werewolves stuff! P.S. Not for the faint hearted.

If you like your Vampire flicks don't miss this one. The basic story is the same as the first film:- Vampires Vs Lycans in a stunning, vengeful and bloody war. It's a race across time to find out the origins of the war and the politics behind the existence of both Vampire and Lycan. What secrets are not being told? Why did the war start? Why was Kraven really making deals with the Lycans? Where does Selene fit in and why did Viktor make her a vampire? Are the Vampires and Lycans related? All will be revealed... I have to agree with some of the other reviews, this is by far the better film of the two! More action, more story and a few answers that were missing in the first. The genre has been maintained well, dark, gothic, violent and blood thirsty. Kate Beckinsdales performance is great again, and lads, dont miss that tight leather cat suit! Good to see Bill Nighy back, he seems to be one of those actors who is born to play a vampire. Shane Brolly as Kraven also gives a fine, if limited, performance. Overall:- A must see for all Vampire-aholics like myself. Blood, style, sex, black cat suits plus a little romance. So, sit back and relax, well worth the watch and I wish I had seen this at the cinema.

This is close to the worst film i have ever seen (almost as bad as 'the negotiator'), yes that bad!!

I enjoyed this film, but it follows on closely from the first film so watching that first is a must.

This starts immediately after the last film, and takes on the history of the war between the Death-Dealers and the Lycans. The pure power of Michael (Scott Speedman) is shown as he and his love Selene (the beautiful Kate Bekinsale) take on the orginal Death-Dealer Marcus (Tony Curran) and Lycan William (CGI). It is well done and dark in content. A film that I would be able to watch more than once.

Found it a bit hard to follow at first (possibly because I've not seen the first yet!) but this is pretty good vamp/werewolf action. Good dose of gore, well done and used sparingly for effect rather than gratuitous.

I was disappointed with the first Underworld. I loved the concept and there was of course Kate Beckinsale in that rubber hugging outfit. However I felt that I was so disappointed with the first that they may have managed to make the sequel better - they couldn't do much worse. I was wrong. Unusually Underworld: Evolution continues moments after the first film finished. Make sure you remember the story as you are only given a small not too great recap. The vampire and Lycan war takes a new direction in Evolution as hybrids are born (hence the title). Prepare for fight scenes a plenty, blood splattered over everything and a bit of flesh to give it that erotic edge. However the plot just gets ridiculous. Certain characters get described as becoming super and yet they never perform to this ability, certain characters you feel should do more, there is a big lack of explanation of some elements. As a whole Underworld: Evolution looks cheap. The splicing of live action with the CGI is too obvious and poorly done. Some of the set pieces are just shocking. Then there is the direction, lingering shots that make you wonder if the DVD is skipping in a loop, numerous closeups of female midriffs (we're talking overkill here), and the wire work is awful. But and this is a big but - Kate Beckinsale is back and that rubber suit is back, it even comes off for a short while. Scott Speedman declothes for the token male. Underworld: Evolution is another disappointment for this franchise. Blade had vampires, Blade had modded weapons, Blade has the kitsch costumes, Blade was first and did it better. Salvation may be a 3rd installment that takes the form of an origin story - just how did this Alexander produce a werewolf son and a vampire son??

I once saw a 'Class of Nuke 'Em High' in a fleapit in New Orleans where the projectionist put the reels on in the wrong order - even that made more sense than this pile of poor effects and fetishism.

The story, such as it is, picks up immediately after the end of the original Underworld. It's something about the original vampire trying to free his brother, the original werewolf and for some reason Selene (Beckinsale) and Michael (Speedman) have to stop him. Let's be completely clear about this; Underworld: Evolution is complete and utter nonsense. On pretty much every level it's poor, the epitome of big loud and stupid. Scott Speedman is the main offender with a laughably poor performance even within the astonishingly limited parameters of what is asked of him (growling, basically). Derek Jacobi (DEREK JACOBI!!!) crops up as the father of the original werewolf and vampire brothers and does what he can but surely wins the embarrased actor award here. Steven Mackintosh also shows up to spout raw exposition. Star Kate Beckinsale is better though. There's not a lot asked of her beyond looking hot and fighting a bit but she does that well and she does have a certain presence on screen. I realise I'm making this film sound like a disaster and it should be one but I found myself having fun with it. With the 18 certificate comes an upping of the gore content with the violence much more hardcore this time and more of the fighting hand to hand than in the first film. The monster design is strong and the effects are really well integrated, the join seldom visible. Though his film is quite astonishingly blue Wiseman generally acquits himself well and resists the temptation of fast cut action, allowing fights to develop some rhythym (though most totally lack logic). If you got anything out of Underworld you'll probably like this sequel more but, like me, may be at something of a loss as to why and just a bit embarrassed to admit it.

If you enjoyed the first one,you'll love this one just as much!!!...again action packed&differant from the norm...well worth a look...

Now this was a great sequel, it tied everything together and to give you the sense that writers/directors out there know how to keep a story true to the fans. The story line stayed true to the first one and this one was a hell of a lot better in the way it was filmed and the way the characters were portrayed. Also the special effect weren't too over the top but just right for this kind of film and the fight scenes were actually believable.

i would quite say i was a fan of the first one but i did enjoy it thats for sure. so i was quite worried about the second one, firstly why did they need to do a second one. i know the first ends with what basically gives away the fact there will be a second one but still anywayz, i must admit i enjoyed this movie. The story was okay, a lot of holes in it though (i wont say tho incase i spoil). Casting was okay, kate was acted well i thought although it was hard to tell as i spent most of my time eye-ing her up in that suit. special affects were good, he gore look not only real but also funny - a really sick kind of funny but funny none the less overall if u liked the first one ull like this one. As squeals go its nt half bad Oh also if your male ull love it anywayz . . cause damn is she hot in that suit :)

A decent follow on, with some great special fx...

what did I expect really, obviously more than this film provided. apart from some good effects, it was a muddled story which I soon forgot.

Go to cinema, leave brain at door & relish (again, if you saw the first movie) Kate Beckinsale sucking copious amounts of human/vampire/other blood in the sexiest latex/leather one-piece combo in mainstream cinema. Do NOT expect great acting. In fact, from Scott Speedman and (suprisingly) Bill Nighy, expect the worst kind of hamming since Hammer. Do NOT expect any kind of depth to the plot, or an even halfway decent script. Remember, you left you brain at the door. This is not a Great Movie that plumbs the depths of the human experience or makes profound allegories on modern society. To all those critics who gave it 1 or 2 out of 10 - did you miss the point? It's a vampire movie! What else could it be but dire & hugely entertaining at the same time?

I can't understand the constant complaining aimed at this film by some on the internet. It's not real it's a film, pure and simple escapism. Okay there isn't anything new here, but it's enjoyable anyway! It was never going to win oscars for serious acting. After all who can honestly say that the portrayal of vampires and werewolves was realistic? Don't take it seriously, just enjoy it for what it is....a fantasy film!

Not that I expect a lot from this type of film, but this was pretty lame and not a patch on the first one (which itself was only so-so). The plot is all over the place and it's just 'we're on the run...we're fighting...we're on the run.' Well you get the idea. I suspect many will watch this simply for Kate Beckinsale in her tight costume, and if that's all you're after then it ticks all the right boxes. If, however, you want a horror/action film with a bit more bite (sorry), look elsewhere.

This was a really brilliant film. I watched it in the cinema twice and couldnt wait to rent it. The film carries on from the first superbly. Very entertaining stuff.

Love the sequel to Underworld. Kate Beckinsale once again does well as the Vampiress and of course, she still looks great in Black Leather!! If you enjoyed the first one, Definitely watch this one!!

And this time they mean business!! This is underworld evolution and at best it’s an entertaining horror film that delivers what it sets out to do. The film continues on from the previous one and again it starts to become a little confusing but as it develops it all starts to make sense. Again Kate Beckinsale produced a heart chilling performance as Selene and again follows along the lines of the first film. The film doesn’t have as much copied action set pieces as the first film before it was obvious the Matrix and the Crow had a influence on the look and feel of the film, this isn’t present in this movie. The film does deliver loads of gore, blood and thrilling set pieces but it isn’t at all suspenseful. The ending is a little disappointing and should have been worked on a little more. Overall if you enjoyed the first film then yeah this is a must rent because of the action, gore and those very blue eyes (Kate Beckinsale)! 4 out of 5 stars

really great film better than the first any if anyone doesn't like it then they haven't got a brain

Firstly, I absolutely love the first movie. From the start of the movie with that sexy monologue that Selene delivers I knew I was in for a treat. Len Wiseman very cleverly builds a story based on a lot of different human emotion but involving immortals. Very simple things made this movie a cult winner, most of wich were cut out in the second movie. Things like Shane Brolly, being brill as devious Kraven, lusting over Selene. Bill Nighty gets it spot on as the deadly father figure to Selene, Micheal sheen (& his Lycans) simply had some of the best lines 'You re acting like a pack of rabid dogs!' All of this has been left out of the second movie. Shame really! In short this movie doesn't get you empathise like the first movie. Characters simply die and you don't care. But luckily they kept the fragmented storyline so you still feel like you're trying to put the pieces together that have been lost over the centuries. Also Kate is still sexy as Selene and she literally kicks ass. The die hards fan will love this!

From start to end this is a true vampire/werewolf film.Action packed, enhanced techincal things, good story.What more do you want? A good sequel to an already good first film.Watch it.

To be honest it would have been more useful just to have edited down the two films just to make one long film, i.e. 3 hours. The second film doesn't really come together until at least half way through even with the 'handy' flashbacks. If you can ride along with the action, you will enjoy this popcorn film.

If your a fan of action/ sci fi this is an unmissable film for you, the characters are developed brilliantly from the beginning and any part of the story you can't recall from the first film is played out again in short flashback. The film picks up exactly where the first took off so no irritating gaps like many a sequel and while the whole cast are achingly pretty Bill Nighy is legendary in the role of one of the eldest vamps. The cinematography is at times breathtaking (witness most scenes with Marcus in flight)and your treated to some spicy vamp/lycan porn to boot. Looking forward to the third.

This is a great sequal to Underworld, this one seems a little darker, the story is good if not a little predictable, the visuals are well shot and nicely done. The characters develop well and its very stylish. A good watch.

I was expecting a better film to be honest and it was not as good as Underworld, but it was watchable and entertaining in parts and ideal for an night time viewing where you dont feel like concentrating. Weak in many respects but many of these films are but it doesnt mean they are not watchable and this comes into that category.

Film leads directly on from first film providing a history to the story. A watchable film, but nothing to really get your teeth into accept for Kate in her PVC.

I really enjoyed this film, but for those of you with girlfriends that ask too many questions to whats going on during a film watch this one on your own. You have to have watched the first one to understand the film but it as a good plot i thought.

Simply, nopt as good as the first film. There are some good fight scenes, the FX are avg, there is more background plot, having not rushed to see this in the cinema, i'm glad i waited until its dvd release, all in all a very avg film.

Basically, leave your brain at the door before you watch this. There is something ludicrous about the way vampires in films such as Underworld and Blade 'evolve' between episodes, 'look that ones got slimy tentacles and wings!' Nevertheless, some decent Brit actors (Derek Jacobi, Stephen Mackintosh). Just mong out, eat pizza and admire the special effects.

I don't know about this film. Loved the first one but this just seems to lack 'something' and I don't know what cos theres lots of action and its not for the faint hearted but the story line and especially locations seem really loose. Would not bother to watch it again.

If you have watched the original Underworld and enjoyed it, you will love this little number, the FX are fantastic and the plot is strong. Considering the gap in making the 2 films the serial is seamless and its as if we have never been away, but as a sequal it goes straight into the action, which is superb from the off. Kate looks as fit as and even though she would drain me dry of all my bodily fluids, i would most definately like to tango with her. If there is one complaint and being british, i have too, the climax could have lasted longer, i could have watched that all day, wicked fight scene, watch it enjoy it, love it

Good film, but certainly pales in comparison to the first. Kate's character seemed to be more vital in the first Underworld. Nothing new in this film, felt like it was very much an extension of the first without making the effort to introduce anything new or exciting. Kate as usual is a winner in my book, so I gave this a fantastic and a '3', for that reasons.

Waste of time, no plot, no continuity, just one fight scene after another.

good alround action/horror thriller. Special effects good. A real lads movie

Ok guys, so we all know Kate Beckinsale looks good in a rubber catsuit, but it doesn't really hold up as a basis for not just one, but two appallingly corny vampire films. Shot upon shot of the aforementioned female whipping her cloak dramatically aside, ostensibly to remove her weapon (ha) but really to give us all another good look at her toned and gleaming thighs, isn't enough to keep me occupied for 2 hours. As a fan of vampire-related amusement I was disappointed - no humour (Ms Beckinsale and her cohorts apparently cannot smile, give me Sarah Michelle Gellar any day), a poor plot, and not even any attractive men/love interest to counteract the booty overload. Pity.

Excellent, just as good as the first film if not better. Intriguing storyline, fast paced, and plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. My only grumble is I don’t see how they can make a third film in the series, which is a shame. Maybe there’s an ‘Elder Vampire’ left somewhere that Kate had forgotten about..lol..I can only wish!!

you really need to have seen the first of these films to follow whats going on as this continues straight on from it. good fun, not exactly a deep film, but entertaining enough monster film.

I know it can be hard these days to uphold the suspense and thrill of the first movie, but this was not even close in my opinion.The plot is mostly rubbish, and even the fighting scenes are drab and quite frankly over to quickly, this film lacked,alot. another film based totally on the fx, and money, to Woo you theory. This only works if you have a decent plot. Watch this film for the sake of watching part 2, but hope with me, that they do not kill us with another high fx and no plot part 3......

If you liked the first film, this sequel does not fail to impress. Good movie.

More vampire versus werewolf kerfuffles with shiny plastic catsuits and big coats. This one has a boat in it and there are some scary deaths along the way. Trouble with this franchise is the original premise; two mythical creatures against each other is a bit like alien versus predator, or 'The League of Extraordinary Gentleman' - far-fetched squared. Not much smiling in this film, either. There should be more smiling in the world, I think.

Good to watch but not as good as the first one

A good sequel to a good movie.Underworld:Evolution is a succuming mix of a riveting story and some nice actoin sequences.

The best bit of this film was the skin tight PVC clothing that Kate Beckinsale was dressed in .... Ok...enough!!!...Time for that cold shower. Not as good as the first one but Kate...you did it for me...Oh Yes!! :o)

A great sequal to a more than enjoyable story line. It picked straight back up from where the first movie left off, in a 'same day' type of fashion. Much more refreshing to see sequels directed in this way, rather than some of the sequal horrors weve been presented with in recent years. 5 stars!

This film is full of action packed fight scenes which is great because the storyline for the film is no where near as deep as the first film - without the fight schene it would be a poor film! I would still watch it as it does add a few pieces to the puzzle that viewers were left with at the end of the first film but dont put this film in you list of favourites!

I really enjoyed the first film 'Underworld' but I didn't think that 'Evolution' lived up to it. But a friend of mine thought it was better so what do I know!!!

When I watched the first film I was pleasantly suprised on how good it was. The second film starts off well but the big flaw here is the plot. I found it quite confusing from the start and only after two thirds of the film, it was really understandable. The action sequences are really good but I was slightly dissappointed with the amount of CGI used. Overall a good film but if your'e like me and need to know how and why plotlines occur then you maybe slightly annoyed.

If you enjoyed underworld then this is a must see film, this film is even better

..And not for the direction and screenplay both by her husband, Len Wiseman. The Idea is pretty good: Vampire Vs Werewolves. However, this Mainly British production suffers from the frequently used studio method of special effects over storytelling. It is worth a watch for the beautifully pale Kate Beckinsale, who is obviously the centre of the of the director's universe. 2 Stars

The second film in the Underworld series did not disappoint at all. Full of blood sucking vampires with a romantic undercurrent running throughout the storyline. If you've seen the first film this one is definitely on the must view list!

If you hire this having a rough idea what its about, Vampires and Lupins fighting then thats what you get. A true B-movie experience. There is no subtext here.

NOT BAD FILM BUT PREFER BLADE

I thought this was an excellent sequel. Probably better than the first one.

This is a must watch if you enjoyed the first movie. The atmosphere is excellent and the movie explains more about the first. If you was confused! A must watch for those SCI-FI people out there.

If you loved the first then this surpasses it. Well worth seeing. Not on a par with Blade though thus reason only gave it 4 stars.

Maybe this should only be watched immediately after watching the first film. I was so confused, not knowing who was who or what the hell was going on. However, once it started to make sense I found it enjoyable. Then came the end: I won't give away the ending, but it was extremely daft, highly unbelievable and evidence of Hollywood needing to provide happy endings or idiotic Americans will not watch the film.

fantastic second part to the first underworld. i enjoyed every minute of this film. plenty of action and fighting scenes and this second part ties up the story of the first film. absoulutely brilliant. first class, top film.

Being a fan of te mysteries/mythology/stories surrounding vampires and lycans, this film (and it's prequel) were a must see for me. And though I wasn't too impressed with the first, this one definitely made up for it. There was a lot more explaination, a lot more history.. It just made more sense than the first. And to top it off, the action scenes were pretty awesome and well choreographed. It's definitely worth seeing if you've watched the first, I'd say. And by the looks of the end, they might be planning a third.

I enjoyed the film, not as good as the first. It did explain the story line further which I liked but confusing at times. Glad I have seen it though.

Good but just doesn't match the first

Very Very Very watchable, if your into your into your vampire films this is the one to watch, better than the first one i think

I love dark vampire movies, and this one had vampires AND warewolves !! ... it should have been a dream come true. But no, this film was a waste of my time. I spent more time laughing at it than really watching it. How did they get someone to pay to make this movie ???

While the First was no great movie, this one seems to have forgotten most of the stories links from the first film. The orignal werewolves are not in it, Selinas backstory changes and more lost threads and unconnected stories, even the fights are not good enough to keep the film average, just watch Blade or Buffy instead.

Really enjoyed the film. If you like grusome plots its really good. Thought it was great that there were flashes back to the first film which jogged your memory a bit too!!

A film with Kate Beckinsale always has to be a good watch, and like the first it's entertaining with a barn-storming finish but the only problem is the complications with the history of the Lycanthrope/Vampire families gets so overboard it's difficult who did what to whom and whose in the wrong etc. but other than that not bad without being a classic!

Good action packed sequel with non-stop action moving at a very fast pace. This film is very dark and you may have to adjust your TV sets brightness. Very good film and if you have seen the 1st then you must see this sequel.

This is not really a film its more of a Friday night video. Its Ok but nothing fantastic happens that you havent seen before. Some of the photography in the original film was superbly done, but this one is fairly ordinary. Dont buy it rent it.

Enjoyable popcorn flick - Slick and stylish. There is nothing here that will amaze you, but what is here is a soildly made film with nice visuals and attention to detail. A highly enjoyable 'take out' film. Worth a watch regradless of whether you have seen underworld.

This was an entertaining film but beware you MUST watch the prequel within the previous 48 hours to have hope of following this film.

I really enjoyed this film, this action formula works, but its not moved on from the last film, the storey was too disjointed, constantly jumping from on theme to another and the plot was a bit watery. This film was far too long, I'd have enjoyed it more if it were 90mins long. Nice bit of gore though. If you've not watched it and you dont want the finale ruined, then dont read this next bit! However I think the final vampire and werewolf death scene were nicely done and suitably horrific, Nice! Basicly it was good but could of been better.

Worse than Van Hellsing and that's saying something. Not even worth seeing for Kate Bekinsale in PVC. No plot, fantastically bad lighting, and CGI, no story, no acting talent on display and a TERRIBLE sountrack. Avoid.

Dear me. Underworld was a bit of a mess with good patches but this sequel is so shabby it's like an oxfam suit. The effects are OK, the fights are OK but a bit non-sensical (why continue to fight with guns & bullets when you know they don't work?) but the plot is very confused and contrived. Kate Beckinsale looks great but unless you're in love with her I'd give this a miss.

Yes, Kate looked good in the suit but not a lot else did. Some silly acting and about as scary as Dr Who.

I absolutely loved the first outing into Underworld, U:Evolution is good but could have been better if a little thought had been put into some of the characters . . . dont get me wrong its very entertaining and full of action, but I feel they had the ingredients for a better film than the first but just did'nt expand on key characters enough. Kate Beckinsdale is even sexier than she was in the first movie...what a fine looking lady.

Followed on ok from the first, but you get easily lost with the script. I felt it wasn't as good as the original, it lacked plot. As I said not brilliant, was disappointed.

The original Underworld was great, this sequel isn't as good as I'd hoped. The action is good, the effects are good, Beckinsale is good ;-) but I found the storyline lacking. I was hoping for more background and fabric to the backstory, but instead Evolution introduces extra characters from single-liners in the first film, using them to progress a story which is too obvious for my liking. Never-the-less, a good action movie with good effects and super setting - plus it's difficult to go wrong with vampires vs werewolves.

Underworld part 2 is here and it was exactly as expected, vampires, chases, action and more action. Overall this was a half decent action movie with minimum effort required and little more added from the first attempt which does offer a slightly more engaging story line. Viewers who missed the first need not worry as there are plenty of flashbacks early which help clarify the plot and those who enjoyed the first should certainly enjoy this as it contains in our opinion a little more story. Kate Beckinsale is reasonable as Selene and even gets quite raunchy with Hybrid Michael at one point, probably a poor attempt to increase the second movies popularity! Overall this was an easy action watch and initially quite entertaining but I must admit by the end I really did not care about Selene, Michael or either of the evil creature leaders and perhaps you could say the film losses its way. Fans of the genre will enjoy for others best wait for Sky’s first showing…3 stars.

I guess you have to be a fan of this genre (which I am not) and see that film because you have liked the first (whioch I did not). Except that, if you rent it because other people liked it (who like like the genre and saw the first), it is difficult to cope more than 15 minutes. And believe me, that's a real chalenge...

Poorly written, no story line, tacky and just the same old same old. This just didn't cut it!

Not a bad film at all. Rented it for my hubby but I actually stayed awake through it. May even rent it again at some point.

There are vampires and werewolves, so is not going to be too intellectually stimulating. Vampires hate daylight, so it will be mainly dark (or rather everything filmed with a blue filter). So taking that into consideration then ideal for a wet sunday, or when you just want your brain to stop deep thinking for a time. It might have made the full 4 if there were better shots of Kate in that tight outfit.

About as bad as the first, I really was not looking forward to seeing this, but thought I’d give it a go as I’d heard some excellent reviews, however it was not my cup of tea. I was fidgety and bored after just 7 minutes! The special effects ranged from impressive to dodgy budget sci-fi monster at best. I found myself really not caring about the storyline or following it. I’ve seen so many better movies of late, unless you really think this one is for you, you won’t be missing much if you don’t see it. The only reason I didn’t give this film a 1* is because it wasn’t quite that bad………but it wasn’t far off!

If you have seen the first one and enjoyed it then rent this, you wont be disappointed....if you haven't seen either and you enjoyed the likes of blade etc then your sure to like underworld.

I loved the first film Underworld and I hope there will be another film. I am a big fan of the Vampire genre and this film is the best I have seen in a long time. It carries on the plot of the first film but does however show you a brief highlight of the first film so you could easily watch it as a stand alone. I like the way the effects are used in this film and the initial concept of having these super human vampires, Likens and Warewolves. I'm loving these films and loving the sight of Kate Beckinsdale in that leather! Jodie

if i was a teenage boy,(which im not) this would be oscar winning material,but its just a re-run of the first with lots more violence and a bigger budget of effects,not so much a storyline more an assault on the eye,to see how much blood can be put up onscreen,the story what there was,passed me by,and call me an old cynic but the director is married to Kate Beckinsale,so he is not going to kill her off,or the awful scott speedman. Some good actors wasted here,but i like Tony Curran,and i find him more interesting than any of the parts he's played on screen. let this be the last underworld flick please,but you know you never can keep a vampire franchise down!

This film was ok, much better when watched back to back with the first as the plot holes get filled. All the action squences are in 3D so get some glasses to appreciate fully.

this was an exellent second film in the underworld genre.selene [kate beckinsdale] was as cold as ever.but with a surprizing twist in the tale.

good gash scene - lack of the old axe wound clips - ahh well shes fit in all that pvc - so u dirty pervs order this one and start tugging at the opening credits - i lasted about 4 mins into the film.

I thought the 1st film was a major disapointment, but had heard good things of this. Yes it is better, but my finger was hovering over the stop button until about the 40 minute mark, when things started to pick up. Some of the effects are a little ropey, while other are excellent. A mixed bag all in all, I just want a Vampire / Werewolf film that can have the mix of Near Dark meets Dog Soldiers. This is not it!!

I thought this was a great sequal. The first film was great, but this tied all the loose ends up brilliantly. The effects were fantastic, the acting was a little dicey in places, but hey your not watching this for the dialogue. And if you thought Victor was scary in the first film, wait till you meet Marcus.

I went into the original Underworld film and walked out amazed at how much I liked it - a contender for that rare 10/10 rating you feel you should never give. I decided to watch the sequel to see what happened to the story but wasn't really impressed. There were some great scenes but the mythos became very confused and the intelligence of the first movie just didn't seem to be there; I found myself getting bored quite a bit in the second half. Saying that, Scott Speedman with his top off was well worth it. On a related note the soundtracks to both films are amazing, get them now!

this film is nowhere near as interesting as the first. i think they wanted to get as much blood, guts and fighting in and then worked the story round it. there was potential, but somehow just missed the boat, which is a shame.

Watched this out of idle curiousity - it's as bad as movie making gets unfortunately. It has a poor script, unbelievable action sequences, and you simply don't care what happens to any of the characters in the film. Perfect fodder for any 12 year old lad.

Well, it'd been a while since i'd seen the first one and seeing as there are a few vampiresque movies around, i thought it'd better watch it before sitting down to this. This sequel follows on nicely from the last film, continuing the saga in more depth. There is more detailed looks into the past to understand the history of the vampires and the Letians. It's a well laid out film, but i was left with questions about the first true vampire's hybrid connections. It still has a blade feel with the gadgets and action, but does follow a slightly different approach to the vampire history. Worth a worth by any means!

This was as good if not better than the first one. It picks up where the first one left off and continues the story of the battle between the Lycan's and the vampire's. The special effects combined with some good acting and a good storyline make this a good film and worth a watch id say.

This movie makes absolutely no sense at all if you haven't seen Underworld I, and little sense if it's been a while since you saw Underworld I. Which was my situation. I prefer sequels to be at least slightly 'stand-alone'. Not a great movie. Not too awful or anything, but just not that good. A typical disappointing sequel.

A bit of a no-brainer to pass 90 minutes with. Good special fx and a stunning Kate Beckinsale and that's about it. What amazed me most about this film is when our heroes sought sanctuary in a disused factory miles from anywhere there was abundant tins of paint left lying around to cover the windows to stop light getting to Selene (KB). Despite the fact that Michael pierced each tin with his bare hands and threw the paint everywhere, there wasn't a drop on him anywhere. Not only that, an abandoned vehicle (a Landrover Discovery if you please!) had a full tank of diesel and started up first time (obviously a fully charged battery as well) and spotless to boot. No dust or cobwebs to be seen. Our heroes then escape in the disco to some Matrix style set piece punch-ups and eventual victory. Not one I'd watch twice. Mind you, Kate B in that tight leather costume? Mmm??

this is definately better than the first movie, but that wasnt a hard thing to do considering that you felt that you knew a second movie was coming with the way the frst movie ended. the characters have more depth and the action isnt half bad either.

I watched the first film some time ago (it was not a memorable experience - ok, but not much more than veg out tv), so didn't have a clue what was going on with this one. The story hinged so heavily on the first film that i would suggest renting both together and having a 'Kate Beckinsale in leather' night - which, let's face it, is no bad thing.

After the first movie's somewhat obvious ending, this sequel was guaranteed. Fortunately it doesnt disappoint and Ms Beckinsale looks as slick as ever in that rubber/leather catsuit. Add in some explosive set pieces and a fair dollop of blood and gore and horror fans will lap this up. Would however say that fans of the genre are more likely to enjoy this than someone looking for a night's entertainment. Believe me that I have seen far worse movies in this style.

This was really bad. Even the sight of Kate Beckinsdale in leather could not save this film. The set pieces are repetative, the plot is dull and predictable. That the plot is silly wouldn't be such a bad thing, except everyone seems so po-faced about it. It's vampires fighting werewolves for chrissakes! I, being a young male, rather enjoyed the film with it's action packed and gorey moments. Whilst my girlfriend hated it, so i suggest its not one for the ladies. But it is a good film for any males out there that enjoy horro/action films which involve werewolves and vampires.

I tried watching this with my teen age son, but 30 minutes in we both agreed the story was weak and confused. and a waste of time. The film looks sleek and well made, but, as with many sequels, there is an absence of substance, and the story seems to have been developed on the hoof. Save your self some time and avoid this.

A good follow up to Underworld. Nothing that will win oscars, but if you are in the mood to watch a good-verus-bad or bad-verus-bad, depending on how you see it, film then this could be the one.

If you liked the first film then you will like this sequel. A good story line, plenty of action as with the original, but it is not a stand alone sequel you really need to see the first film to follow the story.

The first one was very interesting, the whole idea of vampires and werewolves battling it out, etc. The ending of the last one was kind of corny, and that is where this one takes off, unfortunately. So, we have a half vampire, half werewolf (Scott Speedman) and the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale. There was no chemistry between Speedman and Beckinsale. Backinsale did look convincingly anguished when her beau died. The sex scene between the 2 of them was pretty hot visually, but no sound. Mind you, this film is rated 15, don't expect to actually see anything. Beckinsale is too good for that anyway. Over all, though, the plot was rather dull and I just wasn't feeling it. They came up with a few hybrids and some story about the origins of vampires and werewolves that was lacking imagination, you'll see. So, I gave it 3 of 5 stars, and maybe I am only being generous because I like Beckinsale.

I actually enjoyed the first underworld but this one HELLO boring. The plot was thin to say the least the effects O.K. But it completely lacked in any watchability. Don't waste your time and money when there's much better things that you could be doing like ironing.

I could only give this a 3 star 'average' rating tho the special effects warrant 4 stars and Kate Beckinsale a 5, just for wearing the fantastic leather outfit she wore in the first movie - oh and for taking it off! But the film itself...oh dear. This really is an example of quantity over quality. It all looks pretty good, especially the brilliant over the top/gory final sequence, but the storyline is weak and meandering, almost confused. Pity, but it's still good fun and better than the original. Just take out your brain and enjoy!

Really enjoyed this film. Found the first film a little difficult to follow but the sequel was brilliant. Get your handy little flashback to remind you of recent events and then bang straight for the jugular and I mean that literally. Lots of blood, lots of guts and even a bit of sex! this sequal answers alot of questions and even paves the way for a possible comeback but i didnt enjoy it as much as the 1st film. its obviously a lower budget as there are not nearly as many vamps and there are even less licans and although the story itself is fantastic i didnt see a need for all the nudity which for me didnt fill the gap of an empty stage and a very predictable ending.

The acting was good but i got a bit lost on the story as i think you needed to see the first one, but still a good film. The effects were brilliant apart from the werewolfey creatures, they were less believable.

The film was almost over before the wafer thin plot even started to make sense, and what you are left with is Kate in leather. If you want chicks in leather, be brave and rent porn. If you want a decent film, don't bother watching this one. I didn't care an iota if any of the cast lived or died, I was that unispired.

What a load of sulphurous tripe! Incoherent, noisy, a script that is all over the place and CGI that looks very cheap and unconvincing. The only actor in this turgid drivel who emerges with any credit is Sir Derek Jacobi who must have only been doing it for the money. If you want a good action vampire movie, rent either Blade or Blade 2 to see how it should be done.

The special effects are great, no more man drops behind a sofa to reappear seconds later as a werewolf. The transformations are excellent, fight sequences exhilerating. Forget the storyline just enjoy the visual carnage

OK, don't expect highbrow storylines, acting or dialogues. Now that's out of the way, sit back and enjoy the movie for what it is - a great action horror romp. Some of the FX are a bit ropey ('specially the werewolves), but otherwise it's pretty good. And you get Kate Beckinsale in that suit! Awesome!

Was a little unsure at the beginning whether i'd like this film but by the end I was glad i watched it. The stunts were really good. Worth watching.

Nice special effects, reasonable acting.. the plot? Nonexistant. At the end all I've worked out is there are vampires, and I could have told you that from the box. The film is a consusing random mess of scenes that seem to have no relation to each other. People appear out of nowhere unintroduced and start to kill each other for no reason... there's *no* depth, and the characterisation is nonexistant. I'm writing this at what is presumably supposed to be the climax of the film but although visually nice they still haven't established *why*. I simply don't care who lives or dies in this film.

Thats for sure. There is a competent cast and they perform wonders with an often weak storyline. This film tries to impress with gore and decapitation but simply seeps blood from any plot with every squelchy stab wound. The story becomes a convoluted history lesson where you feel you must have walked into the wrong room and can hardly bear sitting through never mind remembering. If Kate Beckinsale wasnt so foxy I would have probably given up with this after the 10th squelchy stabbing.

I absolutley love the Vampire mythology in the Underword series. This film really isn't for people who want an easy to follow story line. However, if you are fascinated by the stories of how Vampires and Lycans (Warewolves) came to be then this really is a film for you. It has enough action and special FX to keep it's pace, with just enough storyline to glue it altogether. My only disappointment is that Underworld and Underworl:Evolution probably could have been rolled into 1 and we could have had a 2nd film that explored the world with a new hybrid species!

well thats a lie, after seeing underworld i had no expectations this would be good... really corny and predictable but the special effects are good...the first 5 minutes are really good where its set in the past with a connan meets vampires feel but as soon as we get to the modern day it gets crappy

If you enjoyed the original you'll certainly like this as it's more of the same. Expect no deep story lines or characters here. A decent light action/horror flick.

You need to have seen the first film for this to really make any sense. Whether you have or haven't, it is a fairly week and predictable film. Good viewing for when you don't want to think too hard.

I thought the first Underworld was good but this film surpasses all my expectations. A truely fantastic film. If you only get to watch one vampire film in your life make sure its THIS one.

In my oppinion this is better than the original! It's more magical, more imaginative and more entertaining!

Vampires & Werewolves? Dark, blue, 'moody' colour tones? Off the shelf CGI effects? P**s poor acting? C**p storyline? Yada Yada Yada. We've seen all this before in Van Helsing and countless other low rent movies. Kate Beckinsale looks fab in tight PVC and leather but that's about it for plus points. Also beware the previews at the beginning of the disc - you cannot skip or fast search through them, you just have to let them play (and watch BBC1 or something). If this is the future of rental DVDs I'm going back to VHS - at least there was a FF button...

Underworld Evolution continues the saga of war between the Death Dealers and the Lycans. If you want to see kate beckinsale tottleing around in platform boots and a skin tight rubber like outfit. which she does actually take off for some soft focus nuddie action then get this film. otherwise I probably wouldn't bother. chewing gum for the eyes.

this is one of those films you really need to watch the first one to really understand what has and is going on. I recommend watching the first one then this straight after then you are really with it. The special effects in this are really good. But i can't see them making another one after this because it really dose leave you with no questions and a good end to the story.Glad i watched it but wouldnt go out and buy it for my collection of films.

Good action flick when you re in the mood for the werewolf genre - as usual not as good as its predecessor - sadly lacking Michael Sheen - and not enough of Bill nighy - but still worth watching

This film was actually pretty good as I wasn't looking forward to watching it after the first one. But this one was a lot better. This one was A LOT more violent and tried not be The Matrix as the 1st had tried. The effects were spot on and the action was near enough constant. Obviously you don't watch these kind of movies for the acting or storyline. But all in all a good film that definitely beats the first

Loved the way this film takes the story from one minute to the next. Lots of fast paced action which lived up to the first film and yet still leaves you hungry for a third part. Kate Beckinsale is so hot in leather. Who cares if she's 400 years old and has teeth longer than my dog's. Fantastic morphing effects. If you liked American Werewolf in London and Blade, then this modern day take on the vampire scene is definately one for you.

The special effects were excellent, however I would have preferred the director to delve more deeply into the back story rather than just show flashes of it. Also it had been a while since I saw the first movie and it would have been a good idea to recap how Michael became a hybrid vampire/werewolf

I loved the first movie but the sequel was even better! Kate Beckinsale is brilliant!

If you liked underworld, this won't come up to the same standards. the story line holds, though most of the vampire myth/legends dont. the actions sequences are ok, but you expected them to be better. if you're a vampire flick fan, this is an ok movie.... sunday night material rather than firday night. if this is your first vampire flick, start with somethign easy.... the backstory takes a while to catch up with.

I enjoyed tis action packed sequel to the first Underworld. I needed to watch it twice to fully understand the background behing the various races, how the came about and what they were trying to do. Without giving anything away, I can safely say you will be riveted to your seat and enjoy a brilliantly crafted ending.

This is the next instalment in the Underworld films and its the best one by far. Excellant, brilliant. The storyline is wonderful and it had me from beginning to end.

Not much of a story to be honest.You get a bit more insight into the history of the whole 'war' between the 2 sides and the movie is nice and dark with some good bits here and there.Not bad to pass an evening.I have seen a lot worse.If you liked the first one, you will definitely like this one.

Its already been said this is a no brainier but that should not stop you enjoying it. Slow and confusing at the start it picks up and in the end I think turns out better than the first. The final scene is great fun and the makers of the helicopter should be proud they build such tough machines. Lots and lots of blood but don't worry if you are squeamish the film is darkly shot so not bright red rivers. Entertaining but lets hope this is the final chapter in this saga.

Too slow for this genre. And doesn't live up to the first part. Also, you really need to have seen the previous film in order to even try to follow this one.

This film continues where Underworld left off (chronologically). That is, it actually starts on the same evening that Underworld concluded, so it's really Underworld Part II, like Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2. So, you will most definitely need to watch the first film to understand this second part. Pointless renting otherwise. I grew up with the old black cape and fangs vampire films, and whilst I still enjoy those old films, I'm so glad that this genre has continued to be 'revamped' so we can enjoy stunning films like Underworld. Yes, of course Kate Beckinsale is a focal point for many, but don't think that she is the only reason for renting this/these film(s), because she's not. Underworld (parts 1 and 2) is a very enjoyable take on the vampire story, and I believe there is also Underworld 3 on the horizon, which may be a prequel..although I'm not keen on prequels. If you enjoy the vampire/horror genre, then you won't be disappointed with this more up to date take on Vampires and Werewolves. Recommended. (BTW: if you buy the films, make certain to get the Underworld special extended edition which adds about 20 minutes to the film)

Not quite sure what I was expecting but this film didn`t quite live upto it. Not as good as the first instalment but have to say Kate looks absolutely fantastic again. Very dark film which didn't hold my concentration well.Just seemed to be lots of werewolves jumpimg all over the place.

This genre is not really me. But Kate Beckinsale just has such a presence on the screen. The story has been moved on. You find out more about the Linkins and the Vampires you learn their history. I really enoyed his because it allows you to understand the origins. They have thought this storyline through as supposed to a vampire and werewolf movie. The action is fanstatic, fight scenes great. I just want to watch another and this one again.

I loved the first Underworld as it's not your typical vampire film but the second was even better! It was a really good story but you do have to listen hard to pick it up so you know what's going on. Other than that it's just really refreshing to see a movie that uses make up effects instead of cgi's!

Enjoyed the first movie and this is a good sequel. The story follows on from the first really well, although it is quite gory it's a good horror flick. Would recommend it.

I liked Underworld, it had lots of entertaining action sequences, a plot that though blatantly ridiculous was easy to lose yourself in since the film stayed firmly in it's own world. The sequel continues the story from the first film, but it adds too much new material to feel like a genuine second part. There's also more CGI in this film, which is an unfortunate departure from the first's man-in-a-suit look that worked so well since it added that grittier feel to things. Generally though, I was entertained by this film but wouldn't buy it, hopefully the upcoming third film will follow the first more than this.

I guess it is all right movie, but I think I have had enough of so much killing and blood for some time now.

Underworld evolution is a good follow on from the first film. It carries straight on from where the first left off. The baddies are more entertaining with some good action. Worth a watch.

This was quite good but like most sequels was better the first time round. Second time round it focuses mainly on the two main characters, who although strong and interesting characters do not make it as good as the original. Worth watching though just to continue the saga and still a few good bits to keep you focussed.

If it weren't for the fact that Kate Beckinsale is dressed in a very tight outfit for most of the time, I don't think I would have bothered with this film. Loved the original, love the new one! This one is gorier, sexier and just amazing on the whole. True, there is much more CG usage, but the plot line is fab and don't we all just love seeing Scott Speedman's lovely buff bod? Well, except most of you guys that is! Action packed, fast paced and lots of blood (always great in a movie like this!) the ending is open enough to suggest a third movie, God I hope so! If you're not a fan of gore, you probably shouldn't watch it, there is a LOT of blood!

This movie looks great, the special effects are spectacular and there is a lot of action. All the ingrediants for a great exciting movie? Yes... - but it has a weak unbelievable plot and the violence is pointless. Why bother to keep shooting someone if you can't kill him with a gun? It rapidly becomes irritating. This movie might look good as a computer screen saver but I think I'll stick with my aquarium.

It was very confusing, firstly - it was hard to get to grips with the story line

secondly - at the start we are told David is the only Hybrid (he is unique) only to find the one who was after him and the others was also a hybrid - confusing or what.

Thirly - It was hard to put together that the three on horse back at the start we're the three later on in the film.

It had poor lighting, totally crap script, poor acting. I just wish it was good.

I thought Underworld 1 was ok, but the second one i really got into.

It wasnt anything like Blade which is a major favourite of mine but it does offer a dramatic story along with fangtastic action.

I also loved this film because it picked off EXACTLY where the first film finished which was genious.

I'll go with Jeff Shannon's review, above, for Amazon. The film lacks that magic extra but has enjoyability. The gore is not gory - I did not wince once. Kate Beckinsale is tasty - definitely like to get my teeth in there - and adds to the film. There is something extra with her. She needs a better vehicle to bring it out.

Another fab Underworld flick. Follows on from previous with 'how it all started' storyline. If you liked the first you will love this. I am going to purchase it and add it to my collection.

Not much to say here - the plot is a bit aged and the acting suspect but it fills an otherwise boring night.

I found this film quite entertaining. I hadn't watched the first film for a long time but fortunatley this one helps go over the first a little bit to bring you back up to speed with things. All in all an enjoyable film I wouldn't say no to watching again.

The blood feud continues in this sequel to 2002 Underworld. Kate Beckinsale reprises her role as Selene, a Death Dealer on the run from her own kind after killing one of the elders Viktor. Here we see Markus awakened and intent to wake up his murderous twin brother William, the first werewolf. There are still plenty of secrets in this film, which will make you think. A fast moving plot that will leave your head spinning. Michael (Scott Speedman) is at Selene’s side all through the film helping her rid the world of everyone that stands in their way to the truth that has been hidden from her for many centuries. The fight scenes are brilliantly choreographed and look faultlessly real. Markus makes for an excellent fighter as he has wings which give him an altogether more bat like appearance. I highly recommend this to vampire enthusiast and people who enjoy bloody, gory fight scenes. Every bit as good as the first film with all the right plot twists. Miss it at your peril.

I recall enjoying the first one, but to be honest, I can't even remember it. This was OK but it wasn't particularly exciting and I am confident I won't remember it in the future. If you enjoy this genre it is certainly worth watching as it is well made and acted. Ms Beckinsale is certainly very attractive and certainly gives the film an extra reason to watch for the male population ...and probably certain females as well. I assume that the reviewers getting excited about Kate being naked were written by teenagers excited to see a little bit of flesh, as this pretty much amounts to a naked thigh.

Not much to say about this film other than poor.

I watched this straight after the first Underworld Film, and i think it benefited from this, as the film doesn't work on it's own. It's a worthy sequel to the original, and progresses the storyline to it's conclusion, tying up all the loose ends and cliff hangers from the first film. I do wish that more was made of some of the characters that were introduced (such as the vampire historian), but then the complaints would be that it was too long.

I 'rewatched' this as I wanted to watch the new movie Rise of the Lycans and it was fantastic the second time around. Most of the action scenes were great although a bit fast but Micheal & Kate have great chemistry on screen and make the movie work. Now that they have gone back in time to develop Rise Of the Lycans what will be the next plot in the series. It will be intersting to see.

It would be best if you see the the first Underworld film a few days prior to watching this. Itwas a few years since I seen the 1st film and it took a while to get 'in to' this film. Having said that I quite enjoyed it. Special effects are quite good but some of the acting is not great. Good to pass a bit of time with some good action.

You need to have watched the first movie pretty soonish before watching this one - much like most sequels you need to remember all the story lines and the villians...so that you can support the good guys! Action is ACE, and its a great Friday night movie with popcorn and the lights switched off. I am a squealer when it comes to even slightly scary flicks...much to my boyfriend's dismay. It is entertaining enough to rent if you like vampire movies.

This is a sequel that i was pleasantly surprised at. Normally they fail to keep up with the first film, but i enjoyed this one.

I absolutely loved this film. The action was non-stop, it was a great sequel to the first, carrying straight on from when the last finished. Some of the action scenes were a bit gory - limbs being severed, heads removed, that kind of thing, but you have to expect that from a film like this. I would absolutely recommend this film to anyone who loves action and the supernatural. It was abfab!

This a fairly good movie, found it slightly hard to grasp at first but then all was apparent and though a basic enough plot the action is pretty good. Not up their with van helsing but decent enough to keep watching.

the sequel was very similar to the first in the context of story and violence but, the visual appearance of the lycan wasn't as effective as in its precursor. the story developed into the reasoning in why the vampire and the lycan races evolved, and why the war began. michael and seline are still on the run from the coven of vampires, in order to protect michael from the lycans, marcus the first ever vampire hunts the duo down to retrieve a necklace which is infact a lock to his brothers prison cell. the ending leaves a mysterious but intriguing ending. i can't wait for the next one.

Not my kind of film at all! I couldn't stand it but my boyfriend loved it so for you blokes it's proberly right up your street!

I found the first film in the Underworld trilogy, really rather good and was very disappointed when i saw this. This is mostly due to the fact that the first film simply had a better story, one with actual depth rather than a tangle of historic events meshed together. Also, Marcus was a terible bad guy with his vampire wings flapping about everywhere like some twitchy squirrel.. I'm afraid they rather relied on the prosthetics to give him his evil aura. There was nothing believably menacing about him, only his vampiric appearance and brute strength. If you're a fan of 'Underworld', i would see this as it ties up the loose ends, but be prepared for it not to be as good as the first one.

Not a bad film but not the most gripping either. I suppose I like a bit more gore. I think I'd have preferred this in book version than as a film. But if you do like to see ladies in nice tight outfits with the little bit of gratituous sex then it is absolutely brimming.

More vampires vs werewolves nonsense but this time the big, top, head cheese vampire is back & he's annoyed & trying to find his brother. Much better than the first in that the story is a lot stronger, the effects are more convincing & less pouting from Kate Beckinsale. One or two silly moments but the opening scene is very good indeed.

although this is underworld evolution but its a amended and cut version, in the very start, 80% of the film's story is shown as clips and if you've already watched the movie before, you'll notice there have been many scenes vanished. But inspite of all changes, the film is great.

As difficult as it is to believe, this sequel meets the challenge to be even worse than its predecessor. Once again, plot is lacking, but this time, no doubt thanks to the larger effects budget, it seems the director has decided to do away with any form of style (no matter how cliched or unoriginal), and the soundtrack is also even less inspired.

Very well made and excellent special effects but the storyline appears to lack the progression of excitement that Underworld has. Worth watching though, perhaps the next will be an improvement on this.

AARRRRGGGHH! Hated it. I simply couldn't watch it. I saw the first one a while back and whilst not being a classic, or particularly good, it didn't have me running for the door screaming. Unfortunately, this one did. It's all filmed in the dark and ,...oh I can't be bothered. Don't watch it. Go and lick some windows instead. It'll be much more gratifying. Yawn!

I had 3 discs sent from Lovefilm and couldn't watch a single copy. If you have a Playstation 3.......DON'T BOTHER as it just does not work (even after changing ALL the settings !!!)

This film was worth the watch, i dint realise i had already seen it, so now watched twice. good film would recommend to others to rentthis dvd, it does help if you have seen the other dvds before watching the sequel.

man i loved it i watched it over and over again a hybrid vampire is sought after and kate is doing the protecting as they both have to make sure a key is not found as it would mean disaser for there world a tale of blood sucking killling and gore as good faces evil.

A bit disappointing but a watchable film. Good for all the vampire fans that are out there at the moment. Gave a good follow up to the original

This film convinced me into believing that the bad guy was unstoppable and nothing could match his power. Then it wiped him out with such a feeble effort that it left me wanting to sink my own teeth into my DVD player. If you are going to have a really heavyweight bad guy, there has to be a really heavyweight comeuppance for him. The nicest thing I can say about this film is that it's disappointing, even with Kate Beckinsale.

Kate Beckinsale is a gay, vampire, homeless obsessed with the feel of rubber on her cool, white, impenetrable skln. Things take a turn for the worse when she tries on a rubber suit twelve sizes too small for her. Follow her adventures as she tries to free herself but can't. Also contains werewolves and a duck.

This is better than the first Kate acts well, and its got a lot of action too. Still not as good as blade but alot better than the original

WOW! This film is fantastic , everything is great about it.Though it doesnt quite come up to the standards of the first movie it still rocks.The plot goes deeper into the original story and adds depth to the characters.As Always Kate is amazing and the other members of the cast are also very good.Dont watch it if you haven't watched the first one as you wont understand it but it is a must for all horror fans.It give it six stars if possible because it is so good.one of this years best.Rent it you wont be dissapointed

let the boyfriend have this one since i had just made him watch the family stone. It really was not good. Seemed to be about vampires and werewolves - couldn't tell you much more cos i fell asleep!

This was pants and I fell asleep after the first 10 minutes.

A profoundly stupid werewolf-vampire horror film that gets wound up in its convoluted mythology. The plot is nearly incomprehensible and all time, money and effort seem to have been concentrated on the visuals. Kate Beckinsdale makes a good impression with ice-pick eyes and body-hugging suits (that somehow seem impervious to shotgun shells, in one of the many inconsistencies that litter the film) but the rest of the cast either fade into the background (Scott Speedman) or stand out in an overly bizarre way (Bill Nighy, Derek Jacobi). Interesting ideas are briefly raised - race, genetics, etc - but then are ditched in favour of endless slam-bam conflicts. Avoid.

My husband enjoyed it. But it's not my thing.

Another good sci fi movie

After a very good 1st film - I was a little disappointed with this confusing storyline of flashbacks combined with over complicated storyline. Predictable storyline slow middle and a rushed ending (running out of budget). Well worth a view none the less - plot still open for a 3rd film - no doubt with kate beckinstale giving birth to the half vampire half wolf

THIS MOVIE I FOUND A LOT OF CONTENT NOT UNLIKE VAN HELSING,HOWEVER I ENJOYED THE FILM,PLENTY OF ACTION!

Sequels are rarely better than their predecessors. However, this sequel is MARGINALLY better than the first Underworld outing. Personally, I preferred the first film. Whilst the second outing certainly has more action in it, and looks more stylish I found myself feeling bored and predicting the outcome half way through the film. It is worth seeing if you have seen the first and want to follow up out of curiostiy. However, if you have seen neither films, I would recommend that you give them a miss.

I found that this film was very much like a violent computer game with lots of wild killings of the badies but the goodies rarely got hit and if they did they did not die which was probably a good thing as far as the story went. Maybe it would have helped if I'd been sent the first of the series, in otherwords in the correct order.

This film is amazing it leaves the first film way behind this sequel, normally sequels aren't half as good as the first one but this one is about 3 times better than the first a defianetley must see, plus you see as nice glimpse of Kate Beckinsale!

Let me put this to you: Kate Beckinsale! + black rubber latex! + which is skin-tight! + vampire seduction! + she bites! i.e. She BITES!... Calm down crumpy, calm now.... And people wonder why I'm such a film fan. Ha! Philastines! Oh, yeah... and the film was quite good too. (Well, okay, it pretty fecking awesome!)

The movie doesn't make a lot of scense. There are realy cool battle scenes and lots of kick ass moves but it's not enough! Very dissapointing ending when finally there the pottential to the best bit of the film but it's hard to understand what is going on.. If you like seeing people (or other cretures) die than give it a try but I assure you your Mrs wouldn't like it, The story is not good... Worth a miss!!!
