Monster Man  (2003)

I could not stop laughing out loud at this film. It is not scary or jumpy but I really was laughing most of the way through it along with everyone else in the cinema. I would definately recommend this as a movie to see and enjoy, just don't expect a horror, this is without doubt a comedy.

Potentially this film had all the makings of a horror classic, storyline, setting, characters, and action. But like a lot of movies in life that 'could' have been really great, it was destroyed through its pathetic attempt to make it into somewhat of a comedy/horror.

Don’t get me wrong, a little bit of comedy mixed in with a chilling storyline goes a hell of a long way but when its done the other way around, its a pretty disappointing result.

Online Rental,gives you alot of choice of films to rent,some good some bad,this is bad,worse than evil aliens,it just so damn annoying,with a couple of the worst characters ever,luckily it was on while i was doing work at my desk,i wouldnt devote an hour and a half just to this movie,rent at your peril. i thought it might be inventive and a little like jeepers creepers,its not!

I decided that I should at least give this film a try, even though it has quite a few bad reviews. The film itself is very similar in story to Road Kill or the first half of Jeepers Creepers. The premise is simple - you have a few youths that take a road trip together only to be chased across the country by a strange psychotic villain in an even weirder vehicle (and believe me, the vehicle is certainly that). The idea behind the film is certainly not original but you could forgive them if they actually managed to pull the film off. However, the film seems to be confused as to whether it?s a spoof like scary movie or a serious horror. There were some seriously cringe-worthy moments, like the comedy running away scenes that only seemed to be missing the Benny Hill music. To give the film its due, if it was trying to be a comedy it had some laugh out loud moments (especially the yoda quotes during, what should have been, a passionate moment) and likewise as a horror it had some fairly good scenes to keep fans occupied. However, what it all boils down to is the fact that the film couldn't make its mind up what it wanted to be and hence played out like some bizarre jumbled mess of scenes. It is probably worth a watch it you like gory OTT horrors so that you can make up your own mind up but I certainly won't be buying this as a result of watching it... although I will probably rent it out again in a few years time to try and see if it makes any more sense on a second sitting!! :o)

First of all you think this film is going to be cheesy but after watching it for awhile u grow to love it. It has a story. This film I would say is a cross between The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Jeepers Creepers. Its a great movie. Add it 2 your list!

No this film will not scare you. Yes it is very predictable. But the best thing about this film is that it does not take itself seriously. If the makers of such films as 'Jeepers Creepers' and 'Saw' would have had the foresight to see that their movies were going to be such piles of crap then maybe they would have added a few laughs. And there's more than a few here to keep you entertained. On more than one occasion I found myself laughing out loud at some of the stupid stuff the main characters got up to. Not the best film ever but a good laugh and very entertaining.

The film starts off as what appears to be a very cheesy film but actually its quite good bit slow to get to the gore but its certainly got it and a few laughs along the way. If you are a horror fan done expect to be jumping off your seat.

I really enjoyed this film. It's a very comical, gory horror. One of the best I've seen for some time. Good Saturday night film with a curry and a few beers!

i have just spent an hour and a half with my mouth wide open its that bad i could not stop watching it

A mangled corpse with its eye hanging out falls on top of a Jack Black wannabe while they are driving and he says 'Help I'm a corpse burrito!!!'...Need I say more...the gore is plentiful...the laughs are frequent...if you were to put 'Duel', 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and 'Airplane' into a blender...voila thats good Monster Man!!!

I kept thinking, this is an american childrens tv show 'halloween edition'. The lead characters are dreadful, the dialogue sounds like it was written by the class 'Star Trek' fan and it doesnt actually have the guts to be a horror! What a total waste of time this was.

Very funny Jeepers Creepers spoof with a hill billy theme. Yoda sex scene is very funny and so is the ending. So good I just had to run out and buy it.

Very slow to start but stick with it as it gets funny.

Oh this film had me in stitches.Just ourely because of the gore and same old one-liners.. Worth a watch if you like your fake blood and odd characters!

This would have been a crap film if it wasn't for the comedy side. I laughed and laughed. It was a mish mash of lots of the old horrors (Chainsaw Masacre, Wrong Turn etc..) but kept the family entertained all the way through... Some gore though, so if you don't like blood and guts, don't watch it :-)

daft, gory, unbelievable yet somehow so bad it's great. this film will never win an oscar, or even an award at the local cinema, but it IS a fun way to spend 90 minutes of your time. i have seen far far worse than this & at least with this film it's blatantly silly & obviously not taking itself seriously at all. some great one liners, a few flashes of gore & some decent enough death scenes. if you're happy to suspend all belief in a film, put your feet up & laugh your way through a movie then this is the film for you. however, if you like your horror movies to be genuinely scary & / or serious - avoid at all costs.

do not rent this film, i love horrors and this is the weirdest terrible poor acting film i have EVER seen!, this should not have ever been released!!!...what a waste of time even on a rainy day! boohoo

lots of gore , sext girl and the usual plot , but a good laugh , worth a look

i was so looking forward to this film i really did not know what to make of it i was going to rate it as rubbish but that was until the gore starts the film did not centre on the monster man bot on the three charactars i was a bit dissapointed as there was not enough gore for a horror movie but then it stepped up a gear there was a twist in the tale when the female hitchhiker they picked up was in on it as well this was a horror with a differnce with some comedy thrown in foir good measure well worth a look

'Monster Man' probably isn't a film you will have heard of, at least not unless you're a die-hard horror fanatic. Don't let that put you off though, as this is one of the most entertaining horror movies I've seen in a while. The one thing you have to remember when watching 'Monster Man' is that it's not supposed to be taken seriously. At all. Fans of 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Jeepers Creepers' or any similar horror film will enjoy this, but those with little interest in horror won't find much to their liking here.

a horrific bone crunching start - makes we believe we are in for one hell of bloodbath..queue scene two and we are then introduced to one of the most annoying characters ever to have hit the screen (bar Jar Jar Binks) journeying across mid America (familiar?)....we are then given a cliche driven film borrowing everything from Duel to Roadkill to Dean End to Texas Chainsaw massacre to House of 1000 Corpses..the film at times is severeley gross but never unnerving due to the comic shenanigans of the two main characters. Overall an average modern horror set in Deliverance hill billy country. Is certainly entertaining but if u want intelligent horror follow Asian Extreme movies or at least their remakes

I really enjoyed the horror/fun aspect of this film, it has the same type of story line which has been used in many films, ROADKILL, TEXAS CHAINSAW etc, it is funnier than roadkill but not as scarey as texas chainsaw. I will certainly buy this film to add to my collection.

Seriously, the worst movie I have watched for years!

This may be the worst 'horror' movie I've ever seen. The leads are the most irritating people to stand in front of a camera. There's not a single laugh or scare in the show. Watching this makes you want to rip your own face off - it really is that bad.

this film was too predictable and not gruesume enough!

This horror was so bad it was actually very funny one to watch especially after a few beers not scary at all!!!

What can I say, I nearly gave up, I did not realise that it was meant to be funny at first as it was in the horror section, if you like the likes of Jay and silent Bob this is a horror version, will appeal to Joe Black fans. If you want a true horror give it a miss.

This film is a terrible horror if you want to have a laugh all the way throught, then indulge, but dont give it the time of day, if you enjoy good films.

Started off reasonably funny in the first thirty minutes as it parodied some recent and classic horror flicks, tried to introduce a romance element, went serious, started to rip off rather than homage and went seriously downhill after a promising start.

If u want a horror film, run the other way now. But if you like comedy and gore this is the film for you. Not what I expected at all and I can see why people didn't like it. But I found the film very good, very watchable and very random (watch out for the yoda voiced sex scene lol). If your open to funny gore then rent it. If you want to be scared watch the teletubbies.

Don't bother - the storyline is terrible (& plenty a borrowed from other films, as stated in other review) & the acting is even worse!!!

Terrible acting, 15 minutes was about as much as I could take. Don't bother, it's a waste of time putting it in your DVD player and forwarding through the trailers!!!!

Well where do i begin. This film is refreshing, ok its the same horror film as many just packaged different but this movie keeps you on your toes plenty of gore funny in places with some well thought twists towards the end a must see for all you horror fans and even if you are not a fan of horror just rent this movie you will be glued from beginning to end.

Monster man is a poor but watchable film, and is far too predictable. Also for a Horror-Comedy, it has no scares and is very limited in humour. It also takes parts from, and is similar to, far too many films to be any good or to stand on it's own - Roadkill, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jeepers Creepers, Duel, House of 1000 Corpses, Wrong Turn (the list goes on!). Instead of renting Monster Man, you would be much better off renting any of the films from the list above, from which this film has copied but not matched in quality!

Ever watched a film with characters so annoying you wished a psycho would suddenly burst in and slaughter them? The problem with 'Monster Man' is that even with the addition of the psycho, the characters are still unwatchably irritating. Some of the gore at the end is stronger than you'd expect, but that pre-supposes you've been able to resist the temptation to throw your DVD player out of the window before getting there. This is a dreadful film: the scares aren't scary and the jokes are so bad you're more likely to cry. If want down-home backwoods horror, you're spoilt for choice with classics like 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', or 'The Hills Have Eyes' and more modest recent releases that still get the job done ('Cabin Fever' or 'Wrong Turn' for starters). This is just awful - don't waste your time.
