The Corporation  (2004)

If you're looking for an incisive, intelligent documentary on the disasters that can be caused by big business, watch Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. This film, on the other hand, is confused, contradictory, bloated, (weighing in at a whopping 2h 21m,) and has no real points to make. It runs around, wildly pointing the finger at anyone and everyone in big business who has, in the past, taken part in some dubious practices, which makes for lots of easy targets because that's pretty much everyone. It cops out and chooses this route rather than attempt to make any constructive suggestions as to how industry can realistically move forward without us all losing our jobs, (don't forget that even if you don't work for a big corporation, most of your cash will still probably come from one or more somewhere up the line,) strong economies becoming weakened and everyone going back to living in shacks. (Remember Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge pals? Their working co-operative ideas didn't work out so well, did they?) Scratch the surface of this film, beyond some sickeningly abused visuals used solely for emotional effect, (the woman in audience seen gulping during big meeting almost certainly didn't happen at the point it was shown; excessive use of concentration camp footage,) and The Corporation holds no more credibility than the cheesy corporate identity ads put out by those they are trying to discredit. Amateur journalism at its worst.

For all the dirt it exposes, this documentary is rather impassive. Objective, this is no Michael Moore documentary with laughter and shock, but an academic presentation of the most recent information and viewpoints on corporations -- from right across the spectrum from CEOs to Activists. Based on the book, The Corporation: the Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, this is a great movie for those interested in such material - every fact is here; every face is here; they all have their say - and they say surprisingly about the same thing - that Corporations are amoral entities. Many of us know this - but in the broad amoral spectrum -- this film illustrates in chilling details - how much they favors on the side of the unethical rather than the ethical. Who should be held accountable for these institutions that are recognised as 'individuals' and therefore trample the globe like giants.

Taking the doc'u'film to an entire new level The Corporation makes everything that has gone before look amateur. Distilled from an original three part TV documentary, the film follows the rise and rise of the western corporation into the world consuming beasts they currently are.

Whilst seeming utterly neutral in its approach The Corporation puts across a devastatingly stark analysis of international corporations as they now stand and how they will continue to function. It's a horrifically bleak and uncompromising look at how modern international business functions including interviews from ex and current CEOs.

It's long viewing but worth every minute.

First rate, award winning, documentary that looks at the corporation, from its first appearance in pre-industrial revolution England, through to the multinationals of today. Featuring appearances from across the political spectrum, the film presents what I would consider to be a balanced, well thought out discussion surrounding the corporation's role in today's society. Milton Friedman, Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, Samuel Epstein, Naomi Klein and Robert Monks make this essential viewing for anyone who takes an interest in the politics of business and society, be you from the left or right side of the spectrum. Despite the inclusion of some hardcore lefties the film never dares to suggest that business/capitalism is evil and for that reason I think any viewer who has gotten involved in economic discussions would enjoy this film.

This irritating film attempts to discredit all companies that operate for profit - without any meaningful attempt to propose workable alternatives by which we may gain our daily bread. Socialism has been tested to destruction so we can abandon that hope right now. All organisations are ultimately corrupt and immoral. This is an integral function of human nature when we cannot expect our conscience to guide us when it is us who at the same time must keep it satisfied.

do not miss this excellent, fascinating documentary about how corporations really run things and influence every aspect of our lives (and, it seems, always have done!). the approach here is slightly more textbook than michael moore's usual entertaining slant, but none the worse for it as a whole secret world is opened up right around us.incidentally, mr moore makes an appearance in the movie. riveting stuff, and just wait till you hear about a certain soft drinks giant and their 'brainwave' during world war two!

Brilliant. Watch it. It could perhaps have delivered the same message without being as long but is well worth seeing nonetheless. It's amazing to see the CEOs of big companies given just enough rope to hang themselves with. You'll be amazed at the arrogance of some of the viewpoints; they even justify paying 3rd world people a few cents, not even enough to survive on, because they would be worse off without the money at all. Where's the logic in that!? Pay them a fair wage you sh*ts! Cruelty and greed shines through these people and they don't even realise it. Sickening but this really is how they think.

I began watching this and nearly turned off after 10 minutes because it felt like a lecture from a dull business seminar. However, you begin to realise that you are being educated about business for a reason - to understand it - and the revelations then begin to come thick and fast. This is the best of its kind, it thrashes people like Naomi Klein and Michael Moore into the shade with a well-reasoned argument that is unavoidably correct in its denunciation of corporations whilst showing us that the only people who can stop them are us, the buying public. eat this, sleep this, but for God's sake, watch it. The extra's disc is also full of extra info and well worth a gander - more fact-packed than a BBC documentary!

Wow! Its amazing to think how big business has taken over all aspects of our lives and now lives in our counter culture. Who would have thought that when the 14th Amendment was brought in to protect the rights of freed black slaves that corporations would leap on this and use it to their own advantage.Turning your company from a group of people into a person with rights is pretty amazing to get away with but not as amazing as the way the corporations polute and rape the planet with no regard for the people in or on it. When you learn that corporations display all the signs of a Psycopath then we all should be worried. You put your trust in them, pay your hard earned wages to them to buy their products and they pay poor people pennies to make the item they have charged you hundreds of pounds for. They won't even let in people to check on the work environments of these down trodden people often firing them with out any valid reason leaving them even more destitute, Its like something from a Dickensien novel and frightening to think that it still happens today in the 21st centuary! It certainly has opened my eyes and i shall think long and hard over who gets my support and my hard earned money. Do watch this film if only to open your eyes!

- well; money! Sadly there is much more mundane yet more shocking content in this eye-opening DVD as this is a pretty shocking reflection on today's world - run by corporations. Ever wonder what the motivation is of a corporation to look after the enviroment & the world around it over profits? Yep, me too because there aren't any.

This documentary is a cut above the other U.S. productions that are out there and highly recommended viewing.

this is like way american, american history, american law...if you dig that then great...if you break your ancle and are off work..then great...if not...give it a miss!

If you have any nagging doubts in your mind about the honesty of corporate culture, however small, YOU MUST WATCH THIS. It is important. it brings elements from many different sources and merges them into a compelling and informative 'docu-film', that helps shed light on how the consumerist world we create by our spending habits may end up controlling the very air that we breathe. Please rent this.

This film raises important questions and makes a strong case. Don't rent this if you want something to eat popcorn to. This is one for nodding quietly and stroking your chin. It is emotionally powerful without being sensationalist. The score is great, the people on screen obviously care about what they're saying: one man's description of his own 'moment of clarity' about these issues is reminiscent of religious epiphany. People deliver their pieces looking dead into the camera: the sincerity is palpable. Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore are two of the big-name cameos, but therin is the central problem this film has: if you regard those two as 'big names', not much in this film is likely to be completely new to you. Still, it is a powerful and eloquent expression and definitely worth seeing. Why four stars? Well, at times the presentation seems to miss the point: for example, [spoilers?] attaching a monetary value to pollution is a great way to make an external cost an internal one, not an attempt to buy the sky. Given the film's premise that the Corporation is a slave to the bottom line, translating real value into the artificial language of dollars and cents can be a very responsible thing to do. I'll be charitable and say they skimmed over that one for lack of time (and this isn't a short film), but it's a neglect that cost it a 5-star rating.

Corporations act as psycopaths leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. It's repulsive; it needs to be known. This film does a good job of educating the victims of marketing ie: us. Caveat emptor.

I did enjoy this film but as the other reviews praise it unequivocally I will just put in a bit of balance by pointing out some negative things. First, given that almost everyone watching it is going to be some kind of lefty, it tends to state the bleeding obvious and at some length. Did you know that large multi national corporations don’t have your best interests at heart? I’d kind of worked that out for myself. Secondly, the film is dominated by the great and the good and has very little of but seems to have largely forgotten about the people who it is presumably supposed to be concerned about. Finally, the bit describing what a corporation actually is legally is exclusively American and there is no comparison with companies that aren’t corporations. Watch it but have the fast forward to hand.

You're either part of the problem or you're part of the solution - watch this film and be inspired to get off the sofa - it could change your life...

Very interesting and thought provoking film with a fairly broad range of views. Of particular interest are the interviews with the couple of corporation CEOs who seem to appreciate a long-term, bigger picture view of their situation rather than simply the shareholders and the bottom line. Also, the extras really help clarify the main points and ideas of the film makers.

This film, really is an eyeopener to what is around us in mine and your every day lives, and is just something weve been brought up on in our unconosious minds its become as basic as phasing out the feel of our own heartbeat beating, only now this 'corporation' and capitilism is turning the very values as humanbeings and respect for the world on its heads, ownership of life is now the private sector, basic essesntials such as water and its raindrops have a price, our every day products contains chemicals that is linked to cancer which has been fully allowed due to corporate controll and then gagged by news channels in fear of loosign corporate sponsors, the demand for cheap and fast products demands the corporations to find the cheap and most of the time damaging alternatives to do so. a film that describes the point of view of the ceo of a company not as a monster but simply a cog in a much larger machine it has no massive controll of, not bashing every corporation completley but a detailed list describing the probelms that lay in them and under the table deals that is against the law and simply human rights being made 'legal' and cost effective risk/reward ratio for profit is truly disturbing. A must watch, something that could possibly change your entire outlook on the world today.

Whilst the film drags-out, it carries through some strong messages and pertinant information, which appears factual. This documentary allows its audience to reflect about contemporary society and the power of choice. Definately worth a look, however, I found myself watching it in bitesize chunks over a week perhaps because of the high-information load to process and consider??

A monumental work. You will not be indifferent after looking at this film. It is not a feel-good movie. But we all need to view it. A must-see for every consumer/human.

Everyone needs to see this film. Its the undisputed political film heavy weight champion of all time. The only history lesson you ever need to know. Drink from the cup of knowledge, before it's too late.

Worth renting and gets you thinking.

Brilliant film about how the worlds businesses work! Alot of things explained and alot of things you didnt know too! A bit long in parts, but kept me informed all the time with their research.

Brilliant in that they interview the CEOs of corporations to tell the story. Therefore this carries a credibility of allowing both sides of the story to be told. It still concludes that society is being threatened by corporate greed. My partner has the book and said that was more thorough and focused on the UK in a way the documentary couldn't. Well worth looking at!

A fascinating documentary / film about the history and rise of 'The Corporation'. The power they now weald - making governments 'dance to their tune' - is truly terrifying. It should be of serious concern that opposition to corporate America is weak and divided. I am a big Michael Moore fan, as you may have guessed.

For a documentary this is quite fast paced, featuring many of the 'alternative' thinkers on business and management.

This is an amazing look at how big business has no regard for the rest of the planet. It is as scary as it is informative!

Informative, interesting, but you do have to be interested in the topic as it is a long film

part of the recent trend in docu film making, this is probably the best of the lot, dealing with almost the entire anti-globalisation and anti-capitalist agenda in a sweet 2.5 hours. Interviewing Chomsky gave it almost all the credibility i needed...!

This one takes time to get going, but it is worth you geting through it, you waont' be happy, the big corps are a nightmare.

Full of stuff you dont hear everyday. This film is rather long for a documentary but it is split down pretty well wich makes it easy to handle. Well worth watching, it gets really into the roots of the insane world we live in today where corporations rule all and the only god is the dollar.

Yes, you could say is one sided, but its the truth, indeed an undeniable truth. Please try to get your business-lovers or business-believers relatives and friends to see this. Not to change their way of thinking, but just at least to open their eyes to the gloomy reality.

Although it is about corporations, it certainly makes you think about modern 'civilization' in general as well; it puts those of us prone to chronological snobbery in our places too! For me the film was a bit long but well worth it for what it had to say.

Great movie. Quite useful to understand how the world works. Of course, nothing new but the documentary is well-documented

The Corporation is a damning insight into the modern day multinational. I found this documentary very interesting as the debate was balanced unlike some of Michael Moore's stuff (although he features in it). Topics covered include sweat shops, pollution, civil war, profiting from 9/11 and many other amazing facts about traders and multinationals which I was not previously aware of.

The first 15 minutes were a little dry I thought but after that it seemed to take off and guide you through the devious world of big business with some I recognised, Niomi Klein and Michael Moore for instance, and others I did'nt. It's over 2 hours long but time sped by. Lots of important messages to convey which, for the most part, it did very well. Watched some of the interviews on the second CD, just selected speakers in my case, due to time constraints. These could drag if there was'nt the ability to pick and choose I would imagine. The film, first CD get's a thumbs up, the second CD was harder work.

All the other reviews probably cover it, but I'd have lopped-out the interviews with the self-styled 'industrial spy' (the guy with the hair) - he seemed too slow-witted to be able to convince anyone he was a CEO (something he'll never be able to do, now, anyway) and seemed more likely an 'industrial spy wannabe'; his presence had the scent of 'scraping the barrel' and was out of place in the otherwise superb documentary. The end piece with Michael Moore was also a bit sickly.

at almost 2hrs 30mins, its a long doco to sit through, but it generally hits the mark with interesting angles of how corporations are exploiting people and the world for profit. Definitely a food for though piece, however it was a fairly one-sided look, with the benefits not fully explored. Overall well worth a look if you enjoyed Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling for Columbine etc.

It's one of those rare films that I immediately wanted to hold everyone in the world at gunpoint and make them watch it. Not only is it pretty to look at, it's argument is compellingly well constructed. You have no excuse not to see this and learn the horrible truths within - then figure out what YOU'RE going to do about it.

You must watch this film and encourage everyone you know to do the same. Rather than overwhelm you with a sense of doom at the state we are in 'The Corporation' educates you and shows you how to change the world starting now. Amazing.

Lots of interesting people with good stories. Quite balanced too.

I liked this documentary in that it opens our eyes to the unscrupulous workings of corporations in America and all over the world. Corporations that try to 'own' the water in poor countries (even the rainwater) or patent basmati rice do indeed need to be dismantled and their leaders disgraced. However this documentary was let down but a lack of flow and, at 2h 20mins, being too long. Knock off 1/2 hr and make the message more concise and flow better and this would have been a top class docu, as it is the message is no less powerful, you just have to work a bit harder to hear it.

If you are rather dubious about trusting the corporate world then this won't put those worries at ease. It exposes corporations for what they are and why they have become what they have! Actually because we have done little to stop them. Some very insightful guests, as well as the author of the book by the same name. Watch the extras on this disk, especially the interview the author has on a radio show, he sums up the film and adds extra insight.

Really gives an insight into just how powerful modern corporations have become.

I was at least gratified by the sincere effort at translating the horror of the corporate slave master into something individuals could actually do about it. But alas, has it worked? At the scale required, I doubt it. We now run the absurd risk of having dummies eagerly awaiting the next 'doccy' like some cheap reality show, with the same passion as we get to watch tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi's blown to pieces. Gosh, how aweful, go along dear, lets make a cuppa then. There really are some extraordinary documentaries coming out on the parlous state of our planet - but then the Americans re-elected George Bush straight after Fahenheit 911! I grow impatient as I wait for the hundredth monkey....

Put simply this is one of the most important films I have ever seen. Any piece of film that makes you think critically is a good one, and this film is one of the best examples of its type. The nature and role of 'The Corporation' within our society is discussed. Several case-studies are used which, whilst showing some of the more extreme examples of corporate madness, nevertheless are indicative of a general trend towards the erosion of democracy (and sanity!). The documentary maintains balance and doesn't try to throw blame at the easy targets. Several high-ranking businessmen are interviewed and, for the most part, they come across as essentially good, reasonable people who are just as frustrated and concerned about the planets' future as anyone. These CEO's find their hands are tied by the 'psychotic' corporate system in which they work. In amongst these sympathetic characters we are also introduced to the likes of the stock market trader whose total lack of morality is expressed best when describing his response to 9/11: he is jubilant that the price of gold will sky-rocket as a result! One of the few critisisms I have is that a picture of doomsday is painted and the conclusion seems short on suggestions of what we can all do to change things. Although, it should be said that the purpose of this doc is to raise awareness, rather than hand-hold the audience. Also, at nearly two and a half hours 'The Corporation' is an overlong time to be absorbing such weighty information, I think its best viewed in two sittings. I would ardently encourage others to view this film. Everyone NEEDS to contemplate for themselves the issues raised by this dvd, these issues effect everyone.

As they say (even before the Matrix) 'Ignorance IS bliss' and if you want to be happy, do not watch this film. If you would like to know about some serious depressing stuff going on in the world today, this documentary is spot on.

The direction is good and it does make you wantto do something about how these large businesses are beginning to control societies and plunder the world! I work for one and I see what they are talking about. Most people probably are a part of it or know of how they work. They have policies and procedures and mission statements but in practice it does not happen. Also watch Loose Change!!!! find it on the web. It's about 9/11!!! One of the best doc's I've seen!!!! Watch it!!!

what I liked about this documentary was the way the film makers broke it down into different segments - so it was easier to digest - it was never dry or boring and I learnt a few things along the way.

I have to admit I didn't follow all of this. But on the whole it is rather good, well researched and quite disturbing. For those who find it interesting I would recommend reading Mission Earth by L Ron Hubbard. He spelled out pretty much the same thing in a satirical view of the planet almost 20 years ago.

See Whats going on under our noses, this film will open your eyes and blow your mind, like the Matrix this is a red pill, blue pill decision . .

Essential, but overlong.

If you want to sit back and view each contributor to this film by either topic or speaker you can hear both sides of the coin at your leisure - almost a whole verite film in itself with over 2 hours of insight.

If you were wondering about the future of this world... watch this - not a pretty picture. If only more of this stuff was on TV instead of brainwashing advertising.

Corporation is an informative examination of the American corporate system, I say American because this is very much an American movie about how it works over there with very little to say about Europe. However despite amassing an impressive array of facts its conclusions are all wrong. It in fact says very little about company behaviour. All it succeeds in demonstrating is that a corporation will always strive to make the maximum profit within the rules set by the government under which it operates and if you don't like that behaviour then that due to a failure of democracy. Corporation thereby illustrates the total failure of the American democratic system which is seemingly designed to encourage companies to come to Washington and write their own laws, and if that is the design they can not be faulted for behaving in that manner.

An average of 3 stars - don't expect the light-hearted touch of Michael Moore but it carries more information and impact than his films. Also quite long, so maybe best-watched in a couple of sessions to really digest the evidence and arguments. Really worth watching for anyone concerned about global capitalism and what we can do as individuals.

This film helped me see the world through the eyes of a corporation and made me understand why they don't care. Through the film, you see that if businesses were a person they would be psychotic and probably locked away. Trouble is, companies are a sort of person through limited liability. Scary. Just remember, us consumers hold the power, the power of our pound...that's the way to vote these days, spend each one wisely!!

I can understand people wondering whether this doco is a bit long winded, but the message is what it is - and it is a very important message, not to ignore - if you want bubbles and fluff, rent a movie instead. It follows a certain style for a reason, so that we can absorb all of it in categories. The subject matter is very interesting, informative and necessary in our lifetime. We found it answered our questions and gave us much more to contemplate. Anything Noam Chomsky is involved in, in my opinion is validated - the man may be far left, but not many can stand up to his knowledge and insight; the many predictions he has made of America, over time, are now a reality. The more insight we have, the more knowledge we gain, the more we can make changes - knowledge is power, so share it.

Highly recommended. It is well-paced, entertaining and contains an incisive analysis of how corporate capitalism works. Everyone needs to see this in order to see what we're all up against. It doesn't present a plan of action, which surely should be socialistic, but it at least helps to point us all in the right direction.

Don't waste your money renting this. It's only got links to various web sites which, while interesting, don't warrant your hard-earned money!

I guess one way of knowing that you have seen a good movie is when you find yourself referring to it regularly; in different types of conversations, when speaking to different people in different situations. The Corporate is just that kind of film. It dissects a topic which effects our lives maybe more then we give it recognition for. Just like Michael Moore's sometimes questionable rhetorics, but always entertaining contributions, there is something for everyone here - for socialists and capitalists alike, as well as people that couldn't care less about politics, 'because there is nothing you can do about it anyways'. This is politics in disguise - delivered in an 'X-Files'-format and that is why it has nestled its way into my life. The Corporation will make you ask questions and think of answers - just like all good conspiracy theories should!

Not all films need entertain by providing an escape route from reality. This most impressive piece of work wakes us up to the fact that familiar brands (whom we relate to as more or less benign presences) are not only THE power-brokers of our material world but even the puppet-masters of personal consciousness. Yikes!

This documentary has loads of great case studies exposing the evils of the corporation. These case studies show how much the corporate world is willing to bend/break the law to maintain a profit. Some of these case studies make for very sobering viewing. However, the argument isn't balanced out. Only one CEO/President is given a chance, or steps up, to defend the coporate world. For that reason alone I can't give this a four star rating.

low-brow. read captive state george monbiot/2001 instead. not read heat yet, but will. try fahrenheit 9/11. i first saw this in cinema and it received a standing ovation, not a typical reaction. also an inconvenient truth is a must see.

What is this film supposed to be about? Documentaries can be one sided, but this is ridiculous. The evil corporate empire conspiracy delusion is so badly done here that I could not waste my time any more. The editing is less than amateur with the same clips replayed again and again. The only insight this film gave me, is that anyone can make a film. However not everyone should watch them!

Every last person with the privilege of choice in the developed world must see this film! Not must they see it, they must act upon it by making a discerning choice in their daily purchases.

What a lovely thought provoking film.

I really enjoyed this film - it certainly highlights how we are duped by corporations and how they potentially ruin our lives. The bonus disc wa good too.

A good idea with some really thought provoking content. However, the delivery is very static and slow and I think the actual feature was overlong.

Essential viewing for anyone who's been told the phrases 'business is business' 'we're a business not a charity', 'we care' or any other phrase which regularly goes unchallenged as a licence for social, anti social or psychotic behaviour. That means all of us, every last one. It entertains and straightens you out all in one. A blissful period of clarity. Not shock value, just perspective and common sense to help you get off the wagon a moment and see what it looks like. We don't have to accept this, find out why.

The film seemed to be a little tedious in it's presentational style, but it gradually became more and more compelling. At the end, the full impact of the revelations astounded me. It has left me with many thoughts (and fears) about the world we live in. Why are we so powerless, when the truth is revealed? Surely, it's because the media gives us trivialities to distract us, (Death of Michael Jackson?), when the deaths of innocents are buried, (sorry!), in other pages and, of course, we don't know these innocents because they are not celebrities. It seems the majority are so pre-occupied with our own little world that we will only appreciate our freedom when we lose it. Thank you for a long awaited expose'. What is the next step?

Powerful and amazing in detail. If you are keen to know the effect of business on an ordinary individual today and in the future, this is a must have. It has been observed and acknowledged before that business has become the most powerful institution on earth... Whether you agree with this view, or with the content of this DVD, or not; this documentary on the concept of corporations will certainly get you thinking.

I found this a very thought provoking documentary. I am moved that there are people out there that have taken the time to make us aware of what goes on in big business. Now that i am aware of things a mearly suspected before.

This movie gives a little insight into the questions you should ask any corporation that tries to sell you anything - because if you have a problem with what they have sold you - they are so well organized that you will find no-one responsible.

This, along with A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash and Enron smartest guy in the room are essential viewing if you want to understand what is really going on in your world. It doesnt advocate the distruction of all corporations merely that they become accountable and should be treat as such in the courts. To ignore the truth is to sink deeper into the vat of mindless consumerism and materialistic obssession which has brought about the state of affairs we are presently living in. Dare you watch it?

This film is bloated and does point it's finger at to many people but its a story that needs to be told and big Corporations need to be questioned and held to account for their actions. This film will make you think.

Thoroughly thought provoking without being sanctimonious in any way. Highly informative without preaching. Sat glued to the film the entire way through even though it's quite long and full of facts and figures. Only negative is that I found the voice of the narrator quite irritating. It reminded me of a voice that would be used over an advert trying to convince you to send money to save dying trees while showing images of diggers and chainsaws cutting down rainforest.

Pretty standard attack on big business with nothing new or particularly insightful. Would avoid this unless you are really struggling for something good to watch.

This was really too long. I actually watched it in error because I thought it was a book by Naomi Klein who is a great writer. Really, they should have just made one of her books into a documentary! This was ok but with heavy reliance on footage from the past and put together it tended to look very dated and haphazard spoiling viewing. The documentary is very political showing how corporations affect politics but without the depth I was looking for to cover corporations as a whole in the same way books by Naomi Klein do.

Ever wondered how much power and influence corporations actually have? How much damage they do and get away with it? How they view and manipulate us? This film has to be seen by everybody. Compelling, eye-opening, scary.

The Corporation is a powerful documentary about the beginnings, the past, present and future of the corporation. There is some truly horrific conclusions that have to be seen to be believed. The documentary is kept very unbiased and lets one come to their own conclusion. If you are concerned about life, social consciesiousness, the future of life, the environment, then this is a must see.

Highly informative, terrific stuff.

Answers most questions about the real nature of modern corporations, how these were born and the way they act. Very well balanced, instructive, never boring.

If you thought you knew it all, then you must watch this!

Very uninspired and standard critique of the modern 'corporation.' If you don't know most of the arguments made in this film, then you've had your head in the sand for the last half a century. I was expecting something new and something I hadn't heard before, but what I got was GCSE sociology material. As flawed as he is, at least Michael Moore made his films entertaining and original. This could have been put together through the last week's front pages from The Independent.

Tells us nothing new and suggests no alternatives or methods for improvements. As the last reviewer said, anyone who reads a decent newspaper regularly will learn very little from this.

When Noam Chomsky gives you the time of day and provides comments to your film you must be doing somthing worthwhile!. To the reviewers out there who say 'its all been in the news' 'read a paper' I would say 'You really missed the point of this documentary' It is using the real stories and providing enough background on these corporations and thier practices in order to dissect the monster behind the machine. The single most imposing features of this documentary is the associations made between our definition of a psychopath and the practices of these global corporations. If you are looking for 'Solutions' to these companies and the problems the answer is simple... do not engage in any support for these companies... Support the alternaitves... or even start your own alternative. What this film does either reinforces your resolve or awakens you to the reality and it MUST be watched.

Busy documentary that calmly and rationally puts forward the case against huge business corporations. There's little doubt that these businesses have been guilty of some shocking acts, like exploitation and rampant pollution; what's even more shocking is that they've not only been allowed to get away with it, but it's been condoned by the courts. Less hysterical than a Michael Moore documentary (he is one of the many intelligent contributors), although there is a lot of important meat to digest here, at 2 and a half hours, it's a bit more than is necessary.

Pretty good documentary about Corporations and how they go about their business with no regard for anything or anyone. Very interesting if a little long. Cash is King.

A brutal honest and shocking discussion of the realities of unrestrained capitalism. The film discusses the rise of industrialism and the hostile corperate take-overs of public commodities as basic as land, water, genomes and even the rights to the happy birthday song. This documentary will open yours eyes to a horrible truth that everyone should know.

This is an interesting if somewhat 'americanised' documentary about corporate life and the complete fultility of the now unavoidable and unsustainable system. The film includes quotes from many credible people including the economics nobel prize winner, Friedman, and Michael Moore to back up its overall point. The end of the film talks of sustainability and the need for a whole new industrial revolution and it leaves you wandering where we will go from here as a species.

Kudos to the people involved for making a 2 12 hour film that mainly consists of talking heads and making it interesting. Since a corporation seems to have legal status as a person, the film makers carry out a health check on that ?person? and arrive at the conclusion it?s an out of control sociopath. That?s interesting as far as it goes but since a corporation is made up of individuals, most of whom are presumably not rapacious, predatorial, exploitative etc then why does a corporation act as it does? Not enough investigation into this aspect unfortunately. There is screen time given to pro-corporate people as well but this should bave been followed up more ? for example, one person from a corporate policy institute believes that absolutely everything should be owned ? but since we don?t get any details we?re left none the wiser as to whether he thinks this would be beneficial to everyone and if so, how. It?s the sort of film that some people would label as ?biased? but since corporations spend millions and maybe billions on promoting, advertising, marketing, lobbying, litigating to protect and advance their own point of view then maybe this is quite a valuable counter to that.

This is a very timely expose of the evil influence of the many multinational corporations.

Based on the legal definition of a corporation as a 'person', this documentary systematically points out exactly what kind of person that would be.......using the WHO mental health guidelines.

It's a classic static documentary featuring talking heads and none of the emotive Michael Moore confrontation. And it is all the better for this - Moore's picking of soft targets to help support his arguments is uneccesary. These companies take the rope and hang themselves.

It's uplifting to see that the world doesn't have to be the way it is and that people-power has worked around the world to throw off government and corporate oppression.

Promising...that was before i watched it. Some really thought provoking views and very informative. However, large parts were really boring and that was enough to ruin the extremely interesting parts. Recommend to watch it but have your finger ready on the fast forward button.

Interesting documentary but the pace is a bit slow. By the way - 59 mins into the films. What is that? Man or Women?

?The Corporation? provides its viewer with proof, direct from the mouths of those responsible and those demanding change that, Corporate America is slowly killing every single one of us. From milk to water to the very DNA that makes up each and every one of us; it is all for sale. And eventually everything on this planet will be owned by a corporation. Yes, even the sky, space, oceans and us. This film is a call to all of us to stand up and be counted. The people are a much stronger force than the corporations. And it is we, the people, who will topple the corporations. On a more critical note, the film does run a bit long (145 minutes) and could have done with some sharper editing. However the content more than makes up for any aesthetic problems the film has. 5 stars.

Some folk may think my rating a little harsh. If this is your first foray into the anti-corporation subject then you may score this higher. Having read some of the work of the contributors of this documentary, I felt it offered little extra in the way of substance on this theme. It was rather pleasing to see the CEO of the carpet maunfacturer and his conversion to the green cause and their commitment to be self sustaining by 2020. I suppose in retrospect I should score this higher to support the work of the makers of this documentary for their willingness to make this sort of work (which still needs the support of the very corporations it sets out to expose for marketing, distribute, manufacture etc)

We've been spoilt recently with a fine crop of documentaries, and this is no exception. Very well researched and extremely current and important. Gives the layman a real insight into the machinations of big business, which I for one, am very grateful.

A good insight how corporations work,but overall I found it boring. I think I'll stick to films. Only for people who generally want to see the in's and outs of the rise and workings of corporations.

Nothing like Farenhiet Nothing like I expected. Expect to learn about how we exploit the third World.... if you don't already know - then hire this.

Well it takes a lot to challenge the sacred cow of capitalism in the Western world. And yes, this film doesn't dare say that business and profit is 'bad' as such, but those of us with brains can take the argument to its logical conclusion, which is this: it's all very well making profits by meeting demand, but the pathological pursuit of INCREASING profit every year leads to corporations to create artificial demands, i.e. things we don't really need. Not only does this not make the human race any happier but is essentially unsustainable in terms of the planet and resources. Leading to chilling schemes to 'privatise' the planets water supply for example. When you get to this, the self-destructive nature of the capitalism we hold so sacred it's really rather disturbing. Personally I'm not a militant eco-warrior, or socialist. But this film shows that just using one's logical intelligence some of the lies we've been fed can be challenged.

SAve your money and buy 300 when it comes out. Essence of the story Corps are BAD, they have no soul, they are driven by profit. If you were thinking of renting this, you already knew that anyway! Wait till this appears somewhere for free, give a donation to their work. But above all get a scriptwriter, get a story, get some human interest. I could do better on youtube ...hhhhmmmm...(thinks???)

Film takes its whole length to tell you that if a corporation was a person, it would be a psychopath. Slightly one-sided. Sent the 2nd disc straight back unwatched. See some Michael Moore instead.

Bored the shiz out of me. The presenters were a couple of losers dicking about. Good message but going to Finland to have a go at people in a half empty seminar??? WOW. Turned it off.

this documentary is informative and well researched but is missing that something extra that makes the viewer care! michael moore on the other hand has consistently produced documentaries that are passionate, informative , gripping and interesting to watch, he has set the standard for anti-corporation journalsim and this production falls way short. dont bother!!

Thought the theme was interesting, but unfortunately the film is biased and does not handle the topic in an objective manner.
