As with the original godfather a brilliant motion picture.

Pacino in the best role of his career.

This is my favourite part out of the 3. Hard to believe that Paramount Execs were against using Al Pacino as Michael as he is outstanding (although a preview of the Sollozo killing in the restaurant finally convinced them). Likewise De Niro who plays the young Vito the early days of the family in New York. Most of the supporting cast is great too, with legends such as Lee Strasberg and Robert Duvall. Although quite a long movie, its never dull and full of drama and suspense. This film catapulted Pacino, De Niro and Diane Keaton into stardom, especially Pacino, and its not difficult to understand why.

Another timeless masterpiece! Rightfully hailed as the best sequel of all times, Godfather 2 receives as much adulation as its predecessor.

It carries forward the art of story telling by showing the early life of Vito Corleone and the rise of Michael Corloene in parallel. The plot develops to show how things were in the family, and how they have become. It focuses on Micheal’s battling attempt to be like his father and to keep his family together. The film blends in strong ingredients of betrayal and deceit, and shows how Michael loses his humanity and transforms into a godfather, leaving himself unassailable, invincible, and alone.

Coppola punctuates and famously ends both movies with a gut-twisting exclamation point that will leave you yearning for what’s next. The beauty of Al Pacino’s performance is shown by the way he plays his roles in the two films. A young and innocent Robert De Niro gives an Academy Award winning performance. His subtle but powerful acting shows what was the birth of an evil person, yet will leave you sympathising with the character.

Gordon Willis’ cinematography excels the first film. He continues to use darkness and shadows to depict the Godfather and other frontline actors. Nino Rota’s composing will make you hum the movie’s main themes.

This sequel is one of an exception, surpassing the original part. Al Pacino is well remembered for his performance in this film. I strongly recommend it to all fans!

this film has recieved five stars and if i could i would have give it ten. i feel that robert deniro walks away with this one. and i could not think of a better actor that could be cast in this role. if you liked the godfather you have to watch part two

just for information, the second part of The Godfather comes on two discs so if you only get one complain as you will be disappointed. The first cd is 2 hours long and the second cd is 1 hour and ten minutes long.

They just dont come better than this, I thought Godfather the best ever , but I was WRONG this film is the definitive mafia film a stunning masterpeice

The 1974 sequel to the 1972 orginal, this time you are thrown from one generation to another learning more about the Corleone family. The plot follows events in the Godfather's childhood that lead to his rise to power, expertly portrayed by a young Robert De Niro. Meanwhile, you will also follow Michael Corleone (played again by a dashing Al Pacino) as he takes over the Godfather's role as head of the family and his struggles to hold onto power and his family as he deals with more mind games and double crossing, even from those closest to him. Who can he trust? The circle seems to get smaller and smaller. I think the film is best summed up in one scene, where a troubled Michael turns to his mother and asks if his father ever risked 'losing it' as he strove to keep the family strong. His mother misunderstands what he means by losing 'it' and Michael explains what he means is does he risk losing his family by his very effort to protect them? This is a long film - busting at least 3 hours - but it is jam packed with such fine acting, plot and cinematography that you will savour every moment.

Not as good as the first. Boring.

This part may well be better than the first. Its most definately a classic and still fantastic. DeNiro is brilliant as is Al Pacino, they really make you feel like the Don.

One of the best films ever made. Superb in every respect: script, atmosphere, acting, direction, casting. The only downside is that the film comes on 2 discs, so I'm going to have to buy it to see the last hour.

As all Godfathers classic, this is a fabulous movie, a must see for all gangster fans (watch the 1st one 1st) do not miss it.

I was really looking forward to watching this film, but unfortunately it comes on two disks and Tesco only sent one. Tesco policy is to send both disks when a single film or show is split over two disks, so I complained. It has been 6 weeks and I'm still waiting on disk two. A complete waste of time. If you want to watch this film, please don't get it from Tesco... you'll only be disappointed.

This is one of my favourite films of all time, it never dulls. Better than the original, it brings everything together really well. A cast to die for, outstanding direction which just flows from scene to scene, great cinematography, great score, great costumes I just can't fault this film.

What can I say - Fantastic,great, brilliant. I thought this was better that the first one but only slightly( I couldn't make out what Marlon Brando was saying some of the time) I watched this film 2 days ago and am still thinking about it yet! A classic

One of the best films of the 20th century, few movies in this genre can hold a candle to it.

Following on from Part one and filling in the story of Vito Corleone, this is an epic and an absolute classic. Some brilliant performances from De Niro and Pacino, and excellent direction from Copolla.

Absolutely timeless classic. But you only get half the film on this disc! So now I have to wait for someone to see fit to send me the other half! I wait with baited breath. The film is great however, and everyone should see it, by law.

The classic ford coppola movie charting the early years of vito corleone along with the rise of Michael Corleone as 1 of the most feared dons within the mafia. Nobody is safe from the wrath of michael should he be crossed.

Film fans everywhere should watch this trilogy. All the films are quite long and this second part comes on two disks. The film has its own story but does go into more detail about events in the first film by way of flashback. Set aside plenty of time and imerse yourself in this masterpiece.

Godfather part 2 is a great movie but is not as great as the 1st film which is argubly the greastest Italian mafia movie of all time. Al picino at as his best as Micheal Corlone And Robert Duvall and Robert De Niro were great supporting casts as you would expect from living legends. The plot in this was not as great as GP1 or as much violence but still a classic

Absolutely magnificent - geezo! If you only watch two movies in your life make sure they are the first two of the Godfather series - all others are insignficant.

Many people loved this one the best. I still prefer the first one. Great to understand the beginings of Corleone and what life conditions took him to become a Godfather.

I really ejoyed this sequel. However, I think part I is the best and having read the book I did find that it skimmed over alot of detail. That said, this is a fab film and well worth seeing!

An unbelivable script , that started with part 1

Good movie - a shade worse than Part 1.

I thought this was a great film. But...it didn't seem follow on from the first one. And i found it hard to follow as it kept flashing back to the past. It was also very long i ended up watching this film every night for a week because i kept falling asleep. Not coz it was boring, but because it was a 5 hour film.

Yep the sequel IS better than the first film, and the first film is a genuine work of art. Excellent acting from every member of the cast... but unlike the first film, the characters are less engaging and you simply cant feel any sympathy for any of the characters... but that is probably the point of the story. Excellent

A great follow up to the first movie and what is happening with the 'family business'. Like the first a gripping tale and another must see film.

great sequel to a classic

A true classic in the genre of Sicilian mafioso. The acting, scenery, and atmosphere is superb.

The original, but still very entertaining.

As all Godfathers classic, this is a fabulous movie, a must see.

Definitely the better film of the trilogy and introduces new characters and actors including the director's grand daughter Sofia Copolla. Al Pacino is magnificent and with an amazing supporting cast this film is repeatedly appearing in Top Ten lists and deservidly so.

Classic drama with the expectance of love, betrayal and sacrifice. This film was motion packed and engrossing. Perfect glimpse into how the original Godfather came about. Can't wait to see part 3 to see how it all ends.

Unstoppable epic tale of fierce loyalties and good food (and wedding) scenes. Enjoyable even when seen n times, because you still forget which bits belong to which Part. Are there any mafia families left after this clear out? Time to see Part 3 again.

This is undeniably one of the best mob films, I have seen and confirms why Al Pacino is a great actor of our time and a living legend

Brings life into reality

If this trilogy isn't in your 'Greatest Ever Films' list then I'd say you're missing something.

Not usually can it be said that a sequel lives up to the expectation of its counter first part. I did enjoy The Godfather Part 2 but i have to say that it was a bit of an anti-climax due to the rave reviews that i had heard from friends. i enjoyed the continued story of the Corleone Family but i always felt like i was waiting for something to happen. Good Watch though, a bit on the lengthy side!!

Great movie of course - loved every bit of it - but I have to admit that its just not as good as The Godfather 1. It's quite confusing at times - batting backwards and forwards between the past and the present, and even more confusing is the ending which seem to come from nowhere with no particular conclusion to this particular film (I guess to ensure you watch the Godfather part 3!). The above negative points do not destract from the fact that the acting is fantastic and the plot great - still makes me wish I was part of the mob!!

This movie builds on the original story and just gets better. Be prepared for a marathon though... It is a long movie

Intesely dense...this one takes some paying attention and rewatching.... but do so, it deserves at least 3 or 4 viewings (even at its 3 hours 10 minutes!) Yes, some of the film has (SHOCK!!! HORROR!!!!) subtitles (whisper it) I think they were so that, um, you could understand what the ITALIAN PEOPLE WERE SAYING! If you have an issue watching films with subtitles then don't watch this... You'll also be missing out on lots of other films...some of which are the greatest films ever made...!

A great movie. Iconic in every way. Its taken me years to finally watch the trilogy and it was worth the wait, I just wish I had seen this earlier. It follows on from part 1 so weel and takes you back in time to the start of the family. A must watch for just about anyone and you have to see all 3 movies to appreciate them

This is not quite as good as part 1 but still definatly worth sitting through the 3 hours. These films just draw you in and keep you hooked, I'm adding part 3 to my wanted list now!

Better than The Godfather. Well acted, beautifully shot. One of my alltime favourites.

This film is often heralded as a classic, And I am not one to disagree. This has to be amongst the top five films ever made. Godfather part 1, just misses that top five but this rightly earns its place. Pacino graces the screen and his metamorphosis from reluctant involvement to eager particapation in Mob rule and violence is skilfully done. Never mind renting this film, buy it and add it to your collection, no DVD shelf should be without it This is a classic

This film captures the imagination to every single detail. Writing this review does not do it any justice whatsoever because i cannot begin to describe how great it is. When its all said and done the bottom line is that The Godfather Part 2 is the greatest film ever made- PERIOD.

A great film. Be aware, this version is split onto to 'two' discs!! Imagine half way through a famous moment you have to get over to your DVD player, eject it, find your second disc and restart the disc!!! In this day and age of Dual layer DVD's I find it stupid! SORT IT OUT LOVEFILM!!!

One of the all time classics. It delves deep into the story line, a special piece of work. I recommend to anyone interested in mafia films/movies

I really did enjoy this one....probably even better than the original. I liked the way it flicked between current times and the past. Some great scenes and great acting - De Niro very good in this film. Al Pacino really shows why he is considered one of the best. Hire this movie out - you won't be dissappointed. be warned though....it span's two discs and will take a while to watch.

Most people think Godfather 2 is better than The Godfather - i'm not so sure but either way this was a good film.

If you haven't seen it, you should see it. If you've only seen it once you really should see it again. If you don't like mafia-type films, you should still probably see it, it's a very beautiful movie.

How rare is it that a sequel is as good as the original film? Well here is one such case. Another epic that grips you from start to finish, Al Pacino is fantastic and Robert De Niro's perfomance portraying the rise of Don Corleone is breathtaking. A must watch film.

Well it's long and may be a little over long but gripping throughout because of Al Pacino whose facial expression hardly changes throughout the film. It's a case of less is more and he executes it brilliantly. I liked the flashbacks and Robert de Nero playing the Brando part as a young man. I don't rate de Nero much these days but he was good then.

this trilogy just keeps getting better and better. this one tells of how Vito came to the US and built himself up

Not as good as the first one. Just that bit too long. Having said that, the acting was superb and it does leave an impression on you after.

So totally captivating its terrifying. After watching this I really want to go into business.

Beautiful movie just how films should be made and produced - bettter than part 1 as it gives the viewer more family histroy and raise to power......Long but don't be turned of by that this is truely one of the all time great movies.........

Second part of the epic Godfather trilogy with Michael Corleone now running 'The Family'. Takes a while to get going but very much worth it. It splits the story with Michael's present day problems & then flashbacks to when Vito Corleone came to America & how he became who he was. Great acting all round although the picture was too dark at times as maybe as I wasn't watching the restored version?

PART TWO IS ANOTHER STUNNING PIECE THAT IS A MUST SEE!!!

For me this was not as good as the first. The film really didnt hold my attention despite every effort I made to stick with it knowing how highly acclaimed it is. The clips back to vito corleones early days would have made a better film on their own instead of being a welcome break from the rest which lacked something the first film had bags of.

It was not that easy to follow. I fell asleep half way through and totally lost track of the storyline.

Notorious sequel to the classic Godfather film. Most of you will know the history of this, but for the young 'uns I'll explain. In the early 1970s Paramount was in a cash crisis thanks to Coppola's Heaven's Gate fiasco. With the Godfather sequel scheduled for filming, a decision was made to make it more commercial, a feelgood movie with a broader range - 'a film for all the Family' as one cringeworthy tagline went. At at time when the Bond films were becoming increasingly juvenile, it seemed a smart move, and one that would appeal to Italian-Americans. The plot has Mikey Corleone taking his kids on a road trip to discover 'the real America'. At this point it was discovered that thanks to a legal loophole, Marlon Brando was contracted to appear in the sequel even though is character dies in the first film. So they fixed it for him to show up as Vito's long estranged half-brother Giuseppe, who has a minor Godfather role in a small Sicilian town. He doesn't actually rub people out but rather arranges for unpleasant things to happen to them - sneaks dog turds into their path, nicks their milk, etc. Anyway Mikey makes him an offer he can't refuse and he joins his family for the road trip, where they discover lots of things along the way, having fun and learning too. Another tag went: 'Mikey and the gang are hitting the road, with the Godfather Too!' Funnily enough, Diane Keaton managed to steer clear of this fiasco. To be honest, I found a couple of scenes quite amusing - the impromptu shoe shuffle in the Nevada shopping mall (although it's clear even now that Brando's weight gain is becoming an issue) and the spaghetti and meatball food fight finale (nods to Bugsy Malone here, though I'm not sure which came first). All the same, this is regarded as the worst sequel of all time, worse even than More American Graffiti, and Brando's career never fully recovered.

didnt think this was anywhere near as good as the first or third films.....just very long and slow, nothing happens

When it comes to Gangsta Films you have to have the Godfather series... you just have to! and you cant count them out individualy as there all amazing films...

But if you only can see one, get this one - it's great, shows the true side of a gangsta and his sturggles with protecting his family while keeping the respect of his enemies.

Be prepard to sit out for a while as this is a long film ( 2 DVD's! )

'The Godfather' is another chilling portrait of the Corleone family's rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from father to son. It is an excellent sequel to the first film and well worth viewing.

Only 1 star 'cos both DVDs arrived broken. Just thought you might like to know.

For many this Oscar-winning sequel is superior to the original. Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino, ruthlessly builds up the empire began by his Sicilian father. With its strong character development, sublime acting and rich, autumnal colours drenching the screen, it is not difficult to see why it continues to top film lists. Whilst the slow building narrative may deter some viewers, this undoubtedly stands tall amongst other Mafia classics like Goodfellas (Martin Scorsese, 1990) and Once Upon A Time In America (Sergio Leone, 1984). It?s just a shame the trilogy ended on such a bum note. 4 out of 5.

The Godfather 2 was i little better that 1 but still a boring film. 70% of this film is in subtitles

not bad seemed to go on and on got a bit boring after a while might of been better if i saw the first one first

I was really looking forward to this film having seen the first film. What a load of rubbish. The storyline is rubbish, most of it is in italian with subtitles and to be honest i was not looking forward to the 2nd dvd. I would not recommend this film to anyone who thinks this film will live up to the first one
