Plants... boring aren't they? sit there doing... well nothing! Think again!

David Attenborough acclaimed for his knowledge and distinguished natural history film making demonstrates that plants are the most amazing survivors in the evolution of the planet.

There are some utterly astonishing flora and vegitation around the world that Attenborough discovers narrating the story of their extreme habitat and 'Against all odds' survival, in the way he does best.

I was laughed at when this popped through my letterbox. Life of Plants! Are you mad!? Actually no. I've never been disappointed by any David Attenborough nature series and I don't believe you will be.

Who wouldn't be fascinated at the poetry of nature that lets species of flowers survive purely on the basis of the existence of one insect, bird or animal that knows how to carry its seed, pollenate it and feed from it?

If I told you that there are trees 4000 years old, that cheese plants found in your lounge 10 years ago began as seeds that could grow 6 feet without any nutrients, or that one carnivorous plant can eat a whole rat, wouldn't you be curious to watch more?

Another thing, plants are very passionate I'll have you know...and fussy! They can't procreate with themselves and they'll only be "fertilised" once their employees have carried some pollen elsewhere.

This and "The Blue Planet" are amazing in their photography and production. Some things in nature are simply too magical to be because of evolution.

I saw this series originally when it was on TV when I was about 14 if I remember correctly. I was hooked from the very first episode, and I watched it, spellbound by David Attenborough's words, every week without fail. I never knew that plants could be so fascinating.

Re-watching it as an adult, it retains the same qualities as my first viewing. Interesting, very informative and very well documented.

Excellent series. David Attenborough on top form. Great photography. Fascinating facts! Have never seen this series repeated on telly since it was first shown. Well worth renting.

very good attenborough however seems to attribute all the wonders to evolution/mother nature instead of God he wants to consider what psalm1 and other scriptures say. nonetheless excellant work

good educational dvd, you can't go wrong with good old David Attenborough can you?

This is masterful, Sir David is in full flow and the filming is world class. I love seeing the motion of the pants sped up, fascinating stuff. You will learn a lot from this. Also, you will enjoy this no end.

Excellent entertainment. Much more interesting than Life of Biirds. David Attenborough is a very lucky and very brilliant man.

Another brilliant BBC/David Attenborough combination. This series takes you in to the slow motion world of plants. Using clever photography to bring plants to our time scale the series takes you through the usual life/death/breeding/feeding cycle that works so well in David Attenborough wild life documentaries. A must watch for all David Attenborough and wild life fans.

You wouldn't think plants would make a terribly interesting subject for a primetime documentry but David Attenborough has done it again and shown us that there is far more to plants than meets the eye. Because plants exist on a different time scale to all other living things, we often don't realise that they have the same struggles in life as other living creatures, such as fighting for territory, finding food and working to produce the next generation by employing all manner of interesting and even devious methods. After watching this series, not only do you have a greater understanding of plants, you also have a greater appreciation.
